Would you say Prince is family oriented? I wouldn't. I always read he had serious issues with both parents and I know I read that he considered Andre Cymone's mom his mom as well. Any thoughts "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I think his childhood was pretty sad at times, but he seemed to make his friends and close associates his "family".

That's a difficult question to answer. For some, marriage and children give one the opportunity to provide a stable environment in contrast to what one grew up with. I think with Prince's becoming more religious over the years he would be.
Who's to say Prince's childhood wasn't stable or family oriented? Role models, extended family, and friends all help to create stability and are a substitute for a parent not present. I'm seeing more and more grandparents as primary caregivers in my field. The kids get alot of love, care and a safe environment that would be lacking with the parent.
