If Prince released the B-Sides as CD singles through NPGMC, would you buy em?

I get so depressed anytime I check out the CD single section when I buy music. Prince's section is crap. The selection is so miniscule compared to artists like Madonna, or Bjork. I've always wished that all the 12" singles were released as CD singles with the full B-sides. I'd drop cash for these if Prince made em available through the club.

Of course you mean the full versions of those B-sides? I'm still very happy with my vinyl versions, but perfect quality singles would be great!

Tom

There was a box set of all his 12" bsides and extended versions. It was 4 CDs and came in a large gold tin. Cost me $150 bucks at a record shop in Athens OH back in 1995. I let someone borrow it at a niteclub because they were throwing a Purple Party, and I never got it back sad sad

Since Prince & Warners will never see eye to eye,
I think the likelyhood of Prince releasing CD
versions of his back catalogue singles is remote.
(along with remastering his albums)

Yes, the full versions. The B-Sides was great but I hated the editing.

If Prince & WB ever did get it sorted
I'd love to see all his singles get
re-released on CD. They should be
packaged in the original sleeves and
include all versions officially released
on 7" & 12".

So they'd look something like this...

Kiss...
1. Kiss (7" version)
2. Kiss (extended version)
3. heart Or $
4. heart Or $ (extended version)

Let's Go Crazy...
1. Let's Go Crazy (album version)
2. Let's Go Crazy (7" edit)
3. Let's Go Crazy (extended version)
4. Erotic City (extended version)
5. Erotic City (7" edit)

and maybe even put some previously
unreleased versions on them as well.
Or put out some of the singles that
never quite made it, like The Question
Of U, Willing And Able, The Continental
& Pope.

Or even put out special edition
ones that were never intended as singles.
Who wouldn't want to buy...

Computer Blue...
1. Computer Blue (single edit)
2. Computer Blue (extended version)
3. Father's Song (vocal)
4. Father's Song (Instrumental)

Yea, I got this one too. The CDs are supposed to be actual gold between the plastic layers.

I love this set. Plus the set "12 Inches To A Yard" and the disc "Extended Member Of The Royal Household". I needed them all so that I could make a perfect sound quality set with all of the extended versions.

I would definately buy any authorized 12" mix CD set from Warners or Paisley. In a heartbeat.

Could one of you guys write down the tracklist of this box set? I've never heard of it and am VERY interested to see what was on it.

Tom--I have that gold box set--very cool.
But there are better quality cds that came out after this one.

I'm sure Warners will eventually put out a collection of the remixes & B-sides. They can release what they want from the back catalog & they can only put out so many compilations of his regular hits. So they'll get to it. Do I have the patience, though?!?
I'm dying to have "Alexa de Paris" (full length version) on CD!

There was also another box set done by the same person, with 8 CDs of outtakes. The sound quality was lousy on most of the tracks, but it had some cool stuff, especially the last CD, which was a ton of footage from Another Lonely Christmas, basically them laying down the tracks and rehearsing. For a little while they bust into "When The Saints Come Marching In". Then theres also some songs of him laying down the tracks for "Baby Go Go".

I lost that set too to the same person. and yes Im very pissed.

If P would release a 2 cd set with the 12" versions of the songs I might very well buy a copy... if her released it thru singles, well I guess I have 2 buy those lol Would be really cool, but alas it's a utopian dream 2 believe such a thing would ever happen... just imagine irresistable Bitch and other B-'s edited, censored hammer
Maybe we best leave it at the 12" and 7" that have them and leave that legacy untarnished...

True, it shouldn't be hard to find. I bought it years after it came out. Try Music Express or Madhouse Music if you don't have luck w/ regular wrekka stows...

I have that 3" of I wish U Heaven as well. I remember when all of the import Cd singles were 3". Almost always in a cardboard sleeve. This single has an exceptionally beautiful cover compared to most of the Prince 3"s.

Those plastic rings that fit on the discs are as rare as the Cds themselves.
