im excited to read the replies to this. ive been wondering the same thing. other insights will be nice. i remember at the soundcheck in DC he said something like "just because your mama told you, you dont have to believe it..." something like that...still waiting on the cd to arrive so i can hear that version again.

This is a song that should actually be dedicated to me. Fit's this Bird to a T. What a Trippy,Trippy, Psychedelic song. Absolutely Wonderful. Put on a Strobe Light,light some Incense and just Inhale the Flavor of this song. The Essence that Prince calls Beautiful Strange. You will feel it in your Pores. What a Cool song. Best song on the album. His voice is unbelieveable and the music Superb.

At 4:02 he sings "I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you". I'm totally perplexed by this song.

Beautiful or strange--this is what ppl used to define the meaning of the symbol,
as they had no way to use a "name".
More than likely it just defined THEIR character which ever they used.

It means to look deep inside for a true

I always considered the song to be about God and Prince's search for the "truth".

I remember a quip on Prince's web site asking Madonna to quit stealing his titles (refering to her "Beautiful Stranger") before his song was released. I don't know if "Beautiful Strange" was planned for Madonna or what the deal was.
