Paisley Park 20th Anniversary Concert !?! Let's not forget that it was 20 years ago when Warner Brothers not only gave Prince his own label , but his own Multi - Media studio / complex known as Paisley Park. What a better way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this building , but to have an Anniversary Concert. All performers from past and present who have appeared on the Paisley Park / NPG label. The Family , Sheila E.,Madhouse , Jill Jones , Mavis Staples , The Time , Martika , Ingrid Chavez , The NPG , Carmen Electra , George Clinton , Larry Graham , Chaka Khan and... Mayte , what do you think ?

I don't think it's up to us. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't believe Warner 'gave' Paisley Park to Prince - he paid for it himself. I t was his vision.

Exactly, Warners didn't go telling him how to spend his money It wasn't a gift either, cost him a big chunk at the time, some thought he was crazy, but it was what he wanted.

Could it be what he dropped the hint about on 07/07/07?????
And I don't buy the whole "Prince doesn't celebrate birthdays, anniversaries..." bit. How do you explain all of the concerts that just seem to fall around his birthday?

I know he doesn't technically acknowledge bdays and holidays anymore but he finds a round about way of observing certain dates and seasons as evidenced by the celebrations/concerts.

I would love 4 that concert to happen. This year 20 years ago represented a new chapter in Prince life and career. Paisley Park (the label and multi media/complex) was apart of that as well. It was a new direction Prince was going with himself back in 1987 and that meant goodbye to some great things and open the doors to creat new ones. Yeah, to some degree Warner Bros. did help Prince invest in Paisley Park both the label and multi media/complex but then again look at how much Prince made with Purple Rain the movie, album, and tour? That did play a big part as well. Even after Purple Rain, Prince was still doing pretty good as far as money is concern up to that point. Anyway, Paisley Park (the label and multi media/complex) was so much of a risk for Prince but, he never did look at it like that because that was something he was going to do anyway because that in him. So, that concert would be great to represent Paisley Park (the label and multi media/complex) 20 years later.

You're right, that was his own "baby"....at least that's my understanding too.

Giving Prince his own label was the worst mistake Warner Brothers ever made. Andy is a four letter word.

You're right, that was his own "baby"....at least that's my understanding too. Purple Rain earnings = Paisley Park. A smart investment, if you ask me. Think about it, he was 26 years old when he envisioned it - complete with multiple studios, a soundstage, living quarters, and the Vault.

Paisley Park - the spiritual concept and building - amazing. Paisley Park - the record label - dismal, except for his own releases and Sheila's 2 on that label.

a) Paisley Park, the record label, debuted in 1985 - 22 years ago. b) Prince paid for the construction of Paisley Park, the recording studio, himself.
