Computer Blue, the only one of the 2 I've heard (as of yet).

It's quite the remarkable song. I only wish that I could have heard the full version (supposedly 14 minutes long).

I don't really care much for figuring how what it means. All I can get from it comes from its placement in the movie.

But the instrumentals from 2:19 to 3:31 speaks louder than the words do. I feel like it tells its own story, but I've yet to figure out what it is. It's worth giving a few more listens just so I can feel the music and let something come to mind.
As of yet, Prince has yet to establish a personal connection with me thru the PR album the way he has thru Musicology & TGE. It's just a collection of well sequenced music that tells the tale of his "coming of age". His heart is in it, but there's no personal connection that I see yet. It was just his Greatness writting a brilliant album that speaks volumes of him at a young age (opposed to his later work I've connected with when he was in his 30's and 40's)

Listen to where Computer Blue is placed in the movie. Prince is pondering his mate and the status of his love life. He needs a pure righteous woman. He has become obsessed with it. Its like programmed in his thought pattern. But he's drawing a blank. The computer screen of his mind is blank hence the blue screen. Its like a file that is lost... "There must be something wrong with the machinery." So until he finds a righteous one his computer screen of love is blue or empty. Remember Zapp had that song "Computer Love"? I think P kind of took the idea and revamped it to say he hasn't found his love yet.

That really says it all. I knew the placement in the movie basically drew the picture of what the song's about.
that part right there is probably why Billy says "the Kid is in rare form tonite"... because the music only really makes sense to him.

It's crazy, though... I love the song because it seems very advanced in the instrumental portion, which seems to paint its own picture. But it just wasn't good for "the business".

Thanx 4 clearing that up. This really puts the song into perspective 4 me. Haha, now I wish I brought PR with me, or I'd listen 2 it right now.
