I have a 30G iPod with about 800 Prince songs on there, plus a bunch of other music. (A lot of my Prince stuff was ripped from vinyl in .aiff format, so it takes more space than it would if I compressed it.)

I have pretty much every kind of music on there -- classical, bluegrass, folk, rock, R&B, hip hop, jazz, ambient, showtunes. I have a lot of moods -- I need a lot of variety! lol

you may remember this post... http://www.prince.org/msg/7/181960

and this photo:

i have a 20gb video ipod. while i have a ton of mp3s and videos on my desktop at home, only 285 prince related mp3s made the cut for the ipod.

i haven't put any videos on the ipod because all they do is drain the battery. and besides, who wants to watch a video on a tiny screen?

you may want to look into compressing them... at least for the ipod. the battery will last longer. (both in between charges, and the shelf life.)

Jesus, don't even go there!. I have an unbelievable amount of Prince play lists on my 30Gig pod split into 15 track Volumes!. By the way you really can put together a fine Prince Blues collection [3 Volumes so far!] made up of live , studio and Bootleg trax.

Wouldn't that require creating multiple files for each song in iTunes? That means sucking additional space there.

again, i'm talking about the life of your battery... not whether or not you have duplicate files. if you don't want them on your hard drive, then burn them to a dvd.

I won a 2gb iPod at Christmas it now has over 300 prince songs on it and a few more to go.

I never even considered buying one but now I'm thinking of upgrading to a bigger one.

No more scratched cd's or cases in the car and so much music in such a small thing that I can take anywhere
oh mama I wish I could resist ...

Actually, what I'd do is leave them all in iTunes, and make a separate playlist for AIFF and MP3. I use Apple Lossless and AAC, but it's the same principle.

The old iPods had a 32MB memory (I think the new ones have 64MB) - so it loads that memory up as a "buffer" to keep things skip-free.

Normally 32MB would be about 8 songs, but if you're using Lossless or AIFF or WAV, that's about 1/2 a song. The more the harddrive spins up to reload the memory, the shorter your harddrive and battery will last.

2) the price is too high

3) I dont think I wanna bring my ipod everywhere my phone goes.....I literally have my entire CD collection on my 80G and dont think I wanna cart it around EVERYWHERE.

not only that, but you want the battery in your cellphone to last. using a cellphone for multimedia kills the battery life.

just look at what playing a video does to the battery on a video ipod.

no thanks lol

3,600 songs...1,096 are Prince or Prince-related.
I still haven't loaded all of the live stuff from Prince.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Everything I "own" of Prince's is on there (all official releases and side projects).

I didn't have room to put The Work series on there. sad

I am still on my first iPod, which is a Mini. So only 2g. But, you know how you can get something enscribed on the back when you order it through apple? Instead of having my name put on it or something, I had "listen 2 the groove/let it unwind Ur mind" engraved on it. Ha ha!

I have a Prince Playlist on there at all times, but with just a 2g I have to rotate what goes in there. Maybe a quarter of the iPod is Prince stuff, though.

Can't wait to do what some of you have done and devote one iPod to just Prince. When are they going to release a purple video iPod so we can put our videos, albums, b-sides and so on all on there? It doesn't have to be a "Prince iPod," just a purple one!
