Prince on your IPOD

I've been in a very "Prince" place lately. I have replaced all the songs on my IPOD shuffle (only 1GB) with randomly selected prince tunes. At 1GB, I have about 26 hours (!!!) of his music and that isn't scratching the surface.

Anyone else only have P on there IPOD? If not, what other music is on your IPOD?

I've got the 80gb video ipod. Have my entire Prince, Time (+solo), Sheila, Wendy & Lisa collections on. Also have vids to Black Sweat, TAC and Reflection live on.
I keep trying to make Prince playlists but it's a total waste of time, I can never narrow it down to the 30 i'm looking for. I've tried doing them by diff criteria like 80's/ 90's/ love songs/ commercial /funk but keep adding and adding more to them, lol.

yeah, it drives my wife crazy. she takes the ipod with her to work to listen to, and while she doesn't mind some old Prince, it will play a Prince song nearly every other song when on shuffle, which she can't take.

i have a 30 GB iPod, but only have abt 200 something songs. I've had it for less that a year. I'd say 45% of the songs were Prince, another 45% are BSB songs, and the 10% is other artists.

I have the 60gb iPod... about 40gb of it is full, 6500 songs.

There's definitely more Prince than any other single artist or band, but I've only got Prince's official album releases on there so there's still a heck of a lot of non-Prince stuff. I'm a bit of a completist - every band I get into, I pick up their whole catalogue. I've a pretty broad selection... a fairly comprehensive hiphop collection, everything from ATCQ to Public Enemy to Run DMC... all the soul greats like Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder... modern R&B folk like D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Lynden David Hall... folksy stuff like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Christy Moore... random stuff like the Beatles, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, REM, the whole Parliament Funkadelic catalogue, Jimi Hendrix, Meshell, Sinéad O'Connor, Janet, MJ, TTD, Miles Davis, U2, blah blah blah. Currently listening to all the old Goon Shows (comedy) smile

Most embarrassing thing on my iPod: Mayte's album.

call me completely lame...

But I don't own an iPOD...

and I really have no desire to get one. I can't care if they are more convenient than my CD player (which I've had since the beginning of the BSB's career). My player is my buddy and has become so after getting my Prince albums.

I just carry 4 of them in my backpack and keep my player in my hoodie's right-hand pocket when I go onto campus.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I have 3 iPods. I got 2 for Christmas...
I keep saying that when I get time I am going to make the 8-gig exclusively Prince, and create playlists that break his music down into "genres". That way I can load up the 30-gig with other music. (the Mini is retired- I use it in my classroom now- it just has Shakespeare audiobooks on it.)

Right now I mostly use my 8-gig Nano, which has about 640 Prince songs. The "affiliated" playlists are:
Sheila E (everything except "Sheila E.", dammit!)
The Time
The Family
Vanity 6
Madhouse
Rhonda Smith
94 East
and (depending on my mood): Carmen Electra.

Then I have about 9 other playlists by random artists including: Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and Robert Randolph.

I shuffle a lot. shrug

I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

lol- yes! i remember I got my fist portable CD player when they released their second album- but tons of my friends did the same thing you did (get their CD players when the BSB came out).

i used to have the same train of thought that i didn't want an iPod and CDs worked fine for me. but then- my Grad Bash trip came up and I was thinking: do I really wanna carry a CD player and bunch of CDs with me on a fieldtrip, along with batteries? I decided that I wouldn't and that's when I bought my iPod. I'm still relatively new to it, and I only use it when I'm outside the house. when I'm home- I only play the oldies radio and CDs.

Thanx 4 sharing. I doubt any force on earth would convince me to get an iPOD (besides, all the money I get is going towards his albums)... i carry it wherever i go, but inside, I either play them on my computer or on my player, but plug it into the wall via an adapter, so I save battery life. biggrin

problem solved! u don't have to have everything high-tech. i certainly don't and i think its better that way. i've met some amish people, and they said that all the technology takes away from wholesome values and things that really matter in life... and in many cases, i have to agree with them.

Fav Ipod moment is, put the kids to bed, run the bath full to the brim with loadsa bubbles, hit shuffle & soak for an hour or so singing to my hearts content!

I still marvel at the technology of it, that teeny, tiny bit of metal holds all those tracks, amazing!! Think I need to get a life!! Ha Ha biggrin
