I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed this, but there is at least one song in all of my albums (4) that is so good that it stands out. So much that it almost doesn't belong.

Here's my list:

Purple Rain: When Doves Cry

I have a few others in mind, but I'll start with these.

As a whole I find Prince's album to have a very consistent sound to them. He is very thematic in a sense.

The only ones that come to mind are the gems from a rather uneven Graffiti Bridge: Joy in Repetition and Thieves in the Temple. Grand songs for any album, especially one this bland.

I do love all of the other tracks on these albums. I love all the PR tracks 4 different reasons, but "When Doves Cry" just stands out for me. I can listen to it in the context of the album and outside of it (which I did b4 I put my dad's PR disc in my CD player). There's something special about it, it's a gem that seems to glow above the others in the album. At least it did at last listen.
"Gold", I can't say enough how special it is to me. Not that the other tracks aren't good, but it just has personal significance, so it does shine very brightly for me.
"A Million Days" caught my ear and it's among the very best of Musicology and there's a lot I like about it.
And everyone could agree that "The Word" is an extremely unique & special track that seems to outshine the others. 3121 is an overall decent album and certain tracks shine above the others in terms of excellence.

Every album has its gems that shine above the others and in the future, I might change my mind about a few, or add a few to the list.
