Thanks 4 the enlightened post. I can't help but see this as a lost cause, judging by the way the world is run.
The most powerful countries r the most profit motivated.
Capitalism has become a law unto itself, and 4 many the ideals of capitalism are in that place where morality ought 2 b.
People are mis-educated from the start. the smarter people usually come out of school, at best knowing how important it is to make dollars at someone elses expense.
If they achieve this goal they're satisfied with their career and often get so bloated with self-love they can't see or move freely anymore.

I know it's a bad attitude, and I wish things were different but I really don't think the people/governments of Asia or America are, in the face of any argument, going to break with the familiar philosophy of fast-buck-making, let alone the argument of some ageing popstar legend, standing on some badly lit stage and ringing his bell in a rather daring corset.

The human race can invent interesting gadgets and ingeneous ways of killing each other but you can't expect them to be able to control themselves.

The strangest thing about real life is that we don't get to see how the story ends.

The future Prince has seen the future

I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it works
And if there's life after, we will see
So I can't go like a jerk

Systematic overthrow of the underclass
Hollywood conjures images of the past
New world needs spiritually
That will last
I've seen the future and it will be

I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it works
And if there's life after, we will see
So I can't go like a jerk

Yellow Smiley offers me X
Like he's drinking seven up
I would rather drink 6 razor blades
Razor blades from a paper cup
He can't understand, I say 2 tough
It's just that I've seen the future
And boy it's rough

I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it works
And if there's life after, we will see
So U can't go like a jerk
No, no

I've seen the future and it will be
Wait a minute

Pretty pony standing on the avenue
Flashin' a loaded pistol, 2 dumb 2 be true
Somebody told him playin' cops and robbers was cool
Would our rap have been different if we only knew?

I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it works
If there's life after, we will see
Don't go out like a jerk

Systematic overthrow of the underclass
Hollywood conjures images of the past
New world needs spiritually
That will last
I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it will be

What has this al have to do with the question of the topic creator and his question?

"The pieces fit together... but I still don't get what the end result is going to be"

If post is not related to the topic what is the meaning of the comments?

Of course everybody has right to an opinion, but if a bilion people starts to drop their opinion to a topic, what is the use then of a topic?

I think that analysing comments are meaning full other comments are just an expresion.

I hope this isn't the Global Warming thing. I hate when musicians feel they have to get involved in these political issues. The music is what it is all about, and Prince has plenty of it.

I thought the same thing too... checked out the http://www.liveearth.msn.com/ website and there is no mention of Prince - I thought it was too much of a coincidence that the LiveEarth thing was taking place on the 7/7/2007 aswell....

Mind you there are another 5 venues yet to list their headliners....
Or.. Maybe he will do the same thing as he did before with "For the tears in their eyes" and just give a song and all it's profits towards helping out...I dunno...

I take it you mean if he was added to one of the shows last minute...? Which, yes, I guess it does mean that looking for his name is kinda pointless!

But then, who knows what he has planned - I think it is apparent that something is gonna happen - just have to keep eyes and ears open and hope for the best!!

If he added just before, his name will not be on the announcement.
But i believe now that he will changed his name on his birtday again to O+>.
And do the planet earth thing in his surprising way.

Because of this he would not allowed to add the name prince on the announcemt because he know he will appear as O+>, which will be secret till his birthday

that would explain why he is not on the list, and why he makes his own flyer/teaser, to let us know that we must watch out for the Planet Earth ting.

I don't think he's going to be at the Live Earth Concerts. A press statement was released to the media and his name isn't among the list of artists performing. However- he might drop in last minute (like he did w/ American Idol, I hear). Here's what I found from the concert's website:

The global concert on 7/7/07 will begin in Sydney and continue across all 7 continents, concluding with the U.S. show.

"We hope the energy created by Live Earth will jump start a massive public education effort," Live Earth Co-Chair Vice President Al Gore said. "Live Earth will help us reach a tipping point that's needed to move corporations and governments to take decisive action to solve the climate crisis."

The U.S. show will feature live on stage:
Kanye West
AFI
Kelly Clarkson
Akon
KT Tunstall
Alicia Keys
Ludacris
Bon Jovi
Melissa Etheridge
Dave Matthews Band
Rihanna
Fall Out Boy
Roger Waters
Smashing Pumpkins
John Mayer
The Police

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. EDT on Monday, April 16 and will be available at livenation.com/liveearth or by calling Ticketmaster at (212) 307-7171. All ticket information is available at LiveEarth.MSN.com. All proceeds will go to The Alliance for Climate Protection and other international NGOs.

and here's the site: http://www.liveearth.msn.com/USPR410

If he's not doing Live Earth... then what is Planet Earth abt? I hope that's not the name of his next album. He doesn't sem to be the green-let's-save-nature kinda person.

here's some more info:

Madonna, Genesis, James Blunt and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be among the headliners at the London show of the global series of Live Earth concerts.
They will be joined at Wembley Stadium by groups including Foo Fighters, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol and Razorlight.

Seven Live Earth shows will take place around the world on 7 July as a way of highlighting climate change.

In the US, The Police, Kanye West and Bon Jovi will be among the artists at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

LONDON HIGHLIGHTS

Red Hot Chili Peppers (above)
Madonna
Snow Patrol
James Blunt
Genesis
The Smashing Pumpkins, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Fall Out Boy and Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters will also perform at the US leg.

More acts are still to be announced for both venues. There will also be concerts in Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Sydney and Tokyo.

The diverse London line-up also includes rap group The Beastie Boys, singer-songwriters David Gray and Damien Rice and R&B pianist John Legend.

The Black Eyed Peas, Bloc Party, Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane and Paolo Nutini complete the Wembley bill so far.

Tickets for the UK show will be allocated by a ballot and fans must register their interest online for 72 hours from 1200 BST (1100 GMT) on Friday.

US HIGHLIGHTS

The Police (above)
Bon Jovi
Roger Waters
Kanye West
Kelly Clarkson
Tickets, priced £55, will be limited to two per person and can be bought from 18 April.

Fans can buy tickets for the US show from 1000 EDT (1500 GMT) on 16 April.

The concerts aim to set a "green example" for other music events by using measures such as eco-friendly electricity, sustainable lighting and carbon-neutral travel.

Former US Vice-President Al Gore, who is one of those involved in organising the events, said he expected Live Earth to attract "an audience of billions".

"We hope Live Earth will launch a global campaign, giving a critical mass of people around the world the tools they need to help solve the climate crisis," he said.

All profits will go to organisations including the Alliance for Climate Protection, the Climate Group and Stop Climate Chaos.

The BBC has confirmed that it will be broadcasting the concerts on TV and radio in the UK.

He definitely isn't changing his name back to prince. Just because he is using the symbol again doesn't mean that he would be dredging that back up. It was his insignia long before he changed his name, and he's continued to use it in the years since. He also won'tbe doing anything of the sort on his birthday, since he hasn't celebrated it for several years.

The same signals as i was speculate that: the O+> would be more important in his life in 1987. And the same signals Prince give to us before he would change his name back to prince. he gave signals before he released the album Rave 2000. Both i was right with speculation.

A name change would not be in his line of his thoughts, more like that he give "god" this unspeakable name. A universal sign that can be drawn all over the world. The man and female combination has been used a long time. But he ad the "horn" part that stands for "music" in his way.

For him "god" speaks through music, allthoug he can spread the good word by music. Music reaches the biggest audience all over the world.

Remember the song "lovesign". "if your sick and evil knocking on your door, call the lovesign and u want it forever more".

He had a cross necklace till he replaced it by the O+> necklace. He would not hang his name on his chest. thats where he keep the "god" sign all his life.

Maybe he is doin this on 7-7-2007. That would be more in his line of shaking and shocking the world.

Hope more people can relate.

U will note that on ticketing sites for Live Earth that it says further acts to be announced.... They can't list everyone... 7 huge concerts around the globe - there are bound 2 b acts that have 2 pull out or have not 100% confirmed. As we know with Prince he likes 2 keep appearances under-hyped - last years Brit awards... US idol etc. (Superbowl NOT included! Ha,ha!) just in case there is a change in plan.
And anyway... global warming is a political excuse. Last month on TV the weatherman on the BBC stated that the last 12 months were the warmest for over 350 years! I wouldn't say the Earth is warming up. Would u? There was an Ice Age many, many years ago... the Earth has evolved... it's a lump of molten rock that has cooled down on its' extremities and created a hard surface. The fact that us humans live on it is not the cause of a climate change. The Earth has, allegedly, been orbiting the sun for millions of years. Do you really believe that a few thousand years of human inhabitation would overturn the climatic balance? Physics and biology and chemistry are more important than politics... and more believable!

I agree Giovanni. I don't think Planet Earth has anything to do with Live Earth. I also don't think this was something that was inspired with Happy Feet, it's something that has been on his mind for a little while. Prince for years has been telling us to love each other, now he's just reminding us to love the earth too. (Though I am only speculating because I haven't heard anything, but it just seems to fit Prince. I've always seen him as a motivational speaker, he just speaks with his music.)
