"Under the Cherry Moon" and Prince Inspire Fashion Line

I was watching the Beauty and Fashion Channel (a new channel on DirecTV) that basically features models and designers.

I believe it was the designer for LaCoste (the one with the alligator) who said "Under the Cherry Moon" inspired his latest line (odd that the clothes weren't in black and white!) and then he also specifically said 80's Prince inspired the hair styling.

Cool to see "Under the Cherry Moon" finally getting some kudos.

I did a Google search; the guy I saw on TV is French designer Christophe Lemaire.

"Since his first collection for Lacoste in spring 2002, Lemaire continues his role as creative director with his latest spring line inspired by Prince's 1986 movie Under the Cherry Moon.
"It's shot in black and white and captures a particular mood, somewhere between the elegance of the 1930s French Riviera and the decadence and funkiness of the 1980s," says Lemaire from New York, where he was already preparing for the fall show.
"It's this clash of eras that inspired me … Lacoste is rooted in the 1930s, but still has something fresh to express today."

No, it wasn't really supposed to, either, from the sounds of it... The designer was 'inspired' by Prince taking 1930's style fashions on building on them in an 80's way, not by the specific designs as used in the movie - just the way they were created.

Yeah, but the outcome is boring as hell...throw some of Prince's outfits on
those models and THEN you have a HELLA fashion show.

LOL yeah, but who would wear it besides Prince and fams? lol

Although, the outfit worn by the girl above reminds me of something Katie would have worn in the movie.
