In This Bed I Scream

I love this song from Emancipation razz Do you think that if it had been released as a single it would've been a hit? The horns alone make it a worthy tune music

I like this song, but I just didn't get the arrangement - the scratches, the high-pitched squealy synths. Had it been released in different, more conventional arrangement, maybe a hit.
What horns?

One of the best songs Prince had released in years. It's sounds like the "Old Prince".

It wouldn't have been a hit if it had been released as a single though. The only things during that time that were hits are the same as today.....shit hop and slow ass adult contemporary Shitney Houston type songs.
Andy is a four letter word.

I love that song- one of the handful I like on Emancipation. It may have been a hit, but it's hard to say looking back that far. God, can you believe it's over 10 years already???
As someone said, it sounds like "old" Prince-which of course makes total sense since it was written with Wendy & Lisa in mind.
Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...music

Love that song.

I never understand why people hate Emancipation so much. Yeah, it's bloated, but it's ripe for customization. Within those 3 CDs I found 10 songs I really liked and burned my own Emancipation CD.

How can a song be passionate and soulless?

In This Bed I Scream may be his best song from the 90s--easily his best during the symbol years. It's got a great groove and an emotion rarely seen in Prince lyrics: remorse.

I don't know, prince can do that.
if he's feelin' remorse it was only for an instant. it's not real.

Love the song...definitely my fave off Emancipation. Would have been a much better first single (as would have 20 or so other songs) than "Betcha" but I don't know about hit potential. Just seems a little too quirky for the mindless masses.

What a song. A collection of perfectly-placed pieces performed by a plethora of instruments. One of my all-time favorites.

Great song.
No horns though.
Just guitars, bass, programmed drums, of course synths.

I agree, he often had the same paradoxical influence on me in those years. Maybe the correct way of seeing it is: He did have some genuine passion to communicate - but it just didn't come across. It often became a sort of sterile passion.
