Is Prince's character in Purple Rain very much like him in real life? Paranoid, jealous, insecure, hot-tempered? Do u think he hits women? "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Sure, and Harrison Ford really wears a fedora, has bullwhipping good adventures after mystical lost treasures, and hates snakes. "New Power slide...."

I answered this earlier but it never appeared? Org's been acting up a lot tonight.
Anyway- yes to first 4, at times, and NO I do not think he has ever hit a woman. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

I don't really think so. I think the creepy Graffiti Bridge version of "The Kid" is closer to Prince, or at least the Prince that is presented to us.
One thing is for sure, in real life Appolonia could kick his lilly ass!

If I was Morris (in real life) and I heard the kid doing that guitar solo, I'd be real nervous about getting cut by club owner. Reeeeeaaaaal nervous.

It was like some bizzaro Universe where a bunch of Flock of Seagulls lookalikes in the audience where unimpressed by Prince's obviously superior performance and musical skills, while at the same time tripping out on the damned "Oak Tree" dance.

That's what I think. Every time I watch the movie (which, don't get me wrong, I adore), I'm wondering what the hell is wrong with these people. It's like a town of people with bad and creepy musical tastes. Plus there's the idea that like, every character is a caricature (sp? OMG usually I'm good at spelling...not tonight) of a personality. Weird... HE'S COMING AGAIN

Oh yeah. I just had to say. Even if the character was nothing like him, the clothes were. HE'S COMING AGAIN

I cant' really sit through UTCM other than to appreciate the odd scenery and artsy fartsy nature of the film. Graffiti Bridge--now that's like watching SAW III to me---I just can't do it.

I watch Purple Rain (usually) all the way through, but sometimes I skip through Morris' performances anyway, because I've memorized any lines that might be there anyway. Under the Cherry Moon - ohhh my...I more like, skip to my favorite scenes and ignore the rest. Like...I like the part where Prince trips on the rug...I like the music...ummmmm.....I'm straining here. Graffiti Bridge - I watched it once. Seriously. HE'S COMING AGAIN

I think the Prince movies are carefully scripted so that Prince gets to play the sort of hapless, vulnerable romantic underdog artist guy, while others--notably Morris Day--are saddled with the greed, the sexism, materialism--and the inept womanizing. Prince would never put himself in a scene where he "poses by the porsche" while his flunky goes to chat up some broad--which, ironically, is pretty much how he approached Cindy Crawford. Or how Morris Day's character refered to his ladies as a "number one" or a "number three," giving them rank and preference--something I'm willing to bet Prince does in real life.
Morris Day's character is Prince's most strenuously denied shadow self.

I convinced my friends to rent this on VHS (yeah, I'm just that old), and about half way through the movie, I was certain I would get my ass kicked.

Someone that used to work for Paisley Park back in the day said his character in Under the Cherry Moon is closer to his everyday personality. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
