Alternatively print the picture out, and start by holding it close 2 ur nose, drawing it slowly away from ur face. Move it in and out and...do the hokey pokey if ur eyeballs fall out... falloff

Just stick your nose right up on your screen and stare.....hold it there for awhile....sort of out of focus...stare....then gradually draw your face back from your monitor.

Try imagining there's a hole in your screen where the magic eye poster is, like there's a rectangle carved right out of your monitor and you can see through it. Mess around with you depth perception accordingly and the 3-D image will eventually appear.

This description helped me see it. cool

this is probably one of the hardest 3D image things that I've seen and "seen".

It takes a lot of time and focus to see Prince's symbol pop up... but it's so cool when I do get it.

The symbol in 3-D. It's weird, once you see it, it takes a second or two to set your eyes straight.

Apologies my friends. I didnt mean 2 cause u any sorrow, didnt mean 2 cause u any strain... giggle

Perhaps this helps:

The Logical Approach to Seeing 3D Pictures
-- Understand Where to Aim Your Eyes --
How to see 3D pictures without 3d glasses. This is called "free-viewing."

There are three basic ways of looking at 3D pictures with both eyes...

Normally, if you look at or read something on the computer monitor, you aim your eyes directly at the surface of the monitor.
You may already have mastered this technique (have you had a lot of practice?!).
If you use normal regular ol' viewing to look at 3D images, nothing will pop out.
You won't see 3D!

With the parallel viewing method (a.k.a. the divergence or Magic Eye method), the lines of sight of your eyes move outward toward parallel
and meet in the distance at a point well behind and beyond the image.
That's why it's called parallel viewing. When you parallel-view, the muscles inside your eye that control the focusing lens relax and lengthen.
NOTE:All Magic Eye stereograms are set up for parallel-viewing.

Another method for 3D viewing is called cross-viewing or the cross-eyed method.
You aim your eyes so that the lines of sight of your eyes cross in front of the image.
When you cross-view, the muscles inside your eye that control the focusing lens contract strongly and shorten.

This cartoon illustrates a technique that has already been popularized as a way to view Magic Eye stereograms printed on books, calenders, etc.
The man in the cartoon (yeah--the guy with two right arms) is putting the stereo image right up against his nose and then--very slowly--
moving the image away from his face until the hidden 3D object takes shape and is recognized.

This technique can be adapted to learn to see stereograms on a computer screen.
If you are the self-conscious type, you may want to try this in private, though.
If you thought putting a book up against your nose looked silly, wait until you try this.

Here goes . . .

1. Since you can not pick up the computer monitor and move it away from your face, try moving your body away from the computer screen.
Get up out of the chair and onto your feet.
Prepare to assume a slightly contorted position.

2. Put your nose right up against the computer screen. The image will become very blurry.
Admire those glowing blotches of color.
The point is you have just easily defeated your tendency to focus right at the surface of the computer screen.
In order to see the 3D image you must look through the computer screen, not at the computer screen.

3. Ask yourself what your eyes feel like because you need to maintain the same feeling and the same posture of your eyes as you move away from the image.
Check yourself again. Your focus is completely relaxed. The image is blurry.
You are staring through the monitor, off into space.

4. Now slowly take a step back from the computer screen while maintaining the same position of your eyes.
Allow the image to remain blurry. Relax, breathe, blink.

5. Continue to walk very slowly backwards, away from the computer screen.
The hidden 3D image will gradually come into view.

6. Continue aiming your eyes beyond the computer screen.
Do not look directly at the image or the computer.
If you suddenly shift your focus and look right at the screen, you will lose the 3D effect.
Try again.

7. Once you recognize the 3D shape, if you continue to look into the background rather than directly at the shape, the 3D effect will increase.
Stereoscopic perception seems to have a saturation effect in the brain, so if you keep looking at the image for a while
you will notice that your perception of the depth increases. Cool. cool

Wow!

I managed to get myself to see it before.

But this last time was so cool. I got into it and I was actually able to see it for several minutes even after blinking. I know what you mean by looking beyond the screen. The vision of prince popping out of the background was just plain amazing.

Christos7, you did a great job with making this.

There's soemthing seriously wrong with the fact that I can't see these unless I'm cross eyed. I stopped after the shark & the dinosaur. I can see them in five seconds if I'm eyepop Needless to say I give up on these 'magic eye' pics before I go blind.

I used to love those magic eye pics!
Pretty good one, though there was an almost identical one
on the Interactive CDROM.

For people who have trouble seeing these things, once you've got the
knack of seeing one of them, it becomes real easy to see them all.

The best way IMO to 'see' a magic eye image is to try and look 'through' it.
Imagine the Image you're looking at is transparent and is halfway between
you and the 'real' object you're trying to see. Another key thing is to relax
and not 'try' too hard.
