Justin Timberfreak vs. Prince

I don't know if you guys have discussed this already. Sorry if you have. But I just found out, through my lil sister that stupid Justin made a comment in one of his songs he featured about Prince's initial comment about "Sexy never left".

So the lyrics say:
"Could you speak up and stop mu-mumbling, I don't think you came in clear
When you're sittin' on the top, it's hard to hear you from way up here
I saw you tryin' to act cute on TV, "Just let me clear the air..."
We missed you on the charts last week, damn, that's right you wasn't there
If se-sexy never left, then why's everybpdy on my shi-it-it
Don't hate on me just because you didn't come up with it
So if you see us in the club, go on and walk the other way
Cause our run will never be over, not at least until we say."

JT really annoys me! mad

Justin likes to tease Prince, it seems. Let's see how Prince will respond to that one.

Omg, don't ever try comparing these two. I could go on forever about why Prince is a million times better than Justin will ever be, but I'll start a smaller list.

1. Justin is just a pretty face, that doesn't make him talented
2. Prince writes his own music and plays several instruments. Justin doesn't play any instruments.
3. Prince has more variety in his music and lyrics, Justin's songs are all about the same things and sound alike.

And on top of everything else, Justin made fun of Prince's height at the Golden Globes... that's not cool... end of story.

Yeah! Our weekly JT hate thread : woot! It's already been discussed that this diss was either to Prince, producer Scott Storch, or Diddy (Puffy, P Diddy Pop Pop, whatever his name is today). Until Justin says exactly who he's dissing, I'm going to go with Scott Storch, because I think Timbaland and Nelly's parts were addressed to him.

I'll always find an excuse to diss Justin and at the same time, I always find an excuse to say why Prince is so much better than so-and-so for a number of reasons.

heh, combining the two makes that all the more fun.

I still don't see the point in comparing the two. I actually find comparing them to be kinda dumb.

good point.

Prince doesn't like it when he's being compared to anyone else. He's a very unique individual and as much as the uninformed public thinks that he's like Little Richard or Jimi Hendrix, I don't see things that way at all. I can't even stand the thought of comparing him to Michael Jackson because Prince is in a class by himself.

Another one of those things that makes him incredible and makes me feel like I'm a part of something special.

I don't think it's a comparison, it just bugged me to think that he was saying something else about Prince. JT and Prince are in completely different levels... they do not compare.

To this day, I still don't understand the Micheal/Prince comparison. I've never seen MJ play any instruments or have as much lyrical prowess as Prince.

psh. JT - from some old boy band and now he thinks he cool because he hangs out with all these hip hop artists. he needs to sit his ass down somewhere, JT can`t walk into the same room as Prince and get as much respect as he does, he`s just one of those losers who has to diss in a song, I hate that too, his ass couldve just moved on but nooo let's do what all the cool hip hop artists do and diss in a song. I hope somone kicks him in his neck and issues a public apology .... ok maybe not all of that .. but still.
Your lips would make a lollipop too happy.

I honestly think he was addressing Scott Storch more than Prince. He admitted in his MTV interview that his album was heavily influenced by Prince, David Bowie, and Micheal Hutchence. Prince did make a comment about how sexy never left, but I think Diddy did to, so shrug. I do like that line though,
"If se-sexy never left, then why's everybpdy on my shi-it-it
Don't hate on me just because you didn't come up with it" lol It was a pretty catchy hook regardless of how many people hate JT.

I understand why people would compare the two. At one time, b4 I considered myself a fan and I knew nothing (lol), I did compare the two to one another, but I don't think I ever started a case and point about it.

As an fan with a little knowledge of the matter, I shudder at the thought of comparing the two. Because as I once told my former roommate and Prince fan:

"Prince has class, Michael Jackson doesn't"... making it ridiculous to compare them in the first place, they may be from the same era, but they come from 2 different worlds.

lol I remember when Nelly made fun of Prince at the Grammys. I think that was the 2005 Grammys because Prince beat Usher and wasn't there to get the award, so Nelly accepted the award and did that "Owwaow" at the end. Lot's of people have made fun of Prince and he seems to be able to take a joke about himself, so I guess I should be able to also. smile

man, this is like the zillionith time I've agreed w/you today. Usually when it comes to Prince, I don't like it when people joke about him. He feel he doesn't deserve it, but I guess it depends on the joke. If it's cool with him, though, it's cool with me.

biggrin Yeah, I don't think Prince took Justin's short joke too personally, because he invited JT to his party after the show. I can't make short jokes about Prince, because I'm only 5'1 and that would be dumb. I'm still waiting for my chance to stand next to Prince and see how much taller he really is in those heeled boots. I have a pair of 3 inch heeled boots, so I'll wear them. lol

haha

I never really noticed his height, actually. And in PR, it's hard to tell because everyone's around the same height as him.

Me personally, I think I might be a tiny bit taller than him, but it depends on the heels he's wearing at the time. With any luck, we could literally see eye to eye.

ychismb brings up a good point, though. It really is an insult to Prince to compare him to Justin.

Where's the Miles Davis comparison thread? I guess P brings it on himself by working with the likes of Carmen Electra, Scary Spice, Tony M., Will I Am and dozens of lesser talents. Maybe he should add JT to this undistinguished list and get it over with.

I don't know...Will I Am has made some trash (Anything involving Fergie...), but he's also done some respectable stuff (Like co-writing and producing John Legend's "Ordinary People" and producing the Sergio Mendez record..) In other words, I think it's a bit silly to place him in the same company as Scary Spice, Tony M and Carmen Electra...Read up on the guy's production credits...You will be surprised..

You're right. I know he has some musical talent but just because someone has a few noteworthy writing credits, cool contemporary production or danceable beats does not place them in P's musical company. Today's Clear Channel inducted talent pool is a travesty and joke. I even think JT is a decent "entertainer" but his musical mind would be lost in a room with Prince.

Respect..But let's be real here...that's not even the issue...We all know JT and Will i am are not on Prince's level...But does that mean they should be dismissed (I myself, diss JT for talking shit about P, but that's totally different)...Prince has worked with a lot of folks (Vanity 6, Apollonna 6, and the like...) that would get lost in the room with Will i am...it's not that serious...

This Topic ain't all that ridiculous. No less than the Stones stuck up for Justion in Toronto when fans booed him.

Justin has some great tunes, obviously not in the same league of talent as Prince, but Justin's music does compare favorable to a lot that's out there right now. It ain't rap anyway.

You want ridiculous: Wait until I start the Ken VS Prince thread. It's gonna leave Barbie in tears

This is why I can't take this forum seriously. You people just don't get it, I mean almost none of you. I'd bet real money that Prince appreciates and respects Timberlake, because Timberlake appreciates and respects the art itself. Justin writes and performs not to be a poster boy, but because he loves the music, and appreciates the art. His music isn't groundbreaking, but it isn't stagnant either. If you really listen to what he's doing, you can tell he has fun with it.

In fact I would really like to hear what he could do with "Hide the Bone".

For God's sake people just listen to what he's doing, and stop assigning expectations. You'll likely find something you like.
