The Sinead O'conner versions is great.

But I like Prince's version best--I just wish he'd do a propper studio version of it without Rosie Gains (forgive me if there is one, but I haven't heard it. )

I heard the Family tune first back when it was released, and I fell in love with that song. I would suspect that it makes me biased towards it.

Everything released after the Family's cut is just a cover song to me.

What I really dislike about Prince's version is the over-the-top reworking of the melody.

This is a great song.

Prince/Rosie's version = Would have been good if it wasn't for Rosie - can't be doing with that woman's voice.
The Family's version = I'd love to hear Prince singing on this arrangement.
Sinead's version = Excellent, really excellent.
MXM version = Oh dear.
Me First And The Gimme Gimme's version = I don't know this one, I'm afraid.

It gives me goosebumps -- it's the way he interprets the line 'nothing can stop this lonely rain-ain-ee-een . Fall rain. Fall rain. Tell me baby where did I go wro-oo-ong?' Man, that's a great part!

(and then Rosie comes in and messes everything up. by making it just another throwaway overdone soul song.)

I love this song! Prince and Rosie rocks!
