I always compared 2 some kind of log sound u would get on these machines.
4 example the start of "The Beautiful Ones"and after the kick in "When Doves Cry"

Linn LM1. If interested in .wav samples of the LM1 sounds for use in other programs, you can get a CD-R from this dude:

http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBa...0094614090

I can't personally vouch for him, so read his feedback and make your own call.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I bought one of those CD's and the sounds were amazing. I've heard real LM-1 drum machines before and I couldn't tell any difference between the sounds at all. I've also tried other Linn Drum sample CD's and samples that were downloaded from other sites but none of them sounded like this. The samples obviously come straight out the back of the actual machine without any tampering or degradation. A must have for any producers out there anyway. Peace!

I think the sound you are referrign to is the SideStick, and it is detuned down low.....and possibly played backwards.

It's not played backwards. It's run through some kind of flanger and a short delay. I've always wanted to know WHICH kind of flanger, that sound is so trippy.
