This one is the last track from the album Parade (1986). I think it's a great song; I never get tired of listening 2 it (although it always makes me cry). Get the album if U can; it's fantastic!

You're a "new fan", aren't you? The "initial enthusiasm" your words show is great. Keep discovering him! I've been a Prince fan for years and I still feel like the first day each and every time I listened 2 his work

I'll say this, though. I'm kinda glad I came in as a fan at the age I am now. I don't think I would have appreciated Prince the same way if I was younger than say... age 13. I'm 20 going on 21, so I'm old enough to understand certain issues and I do appreciate the result of the hard work and dedication Prince has done for his brilliant music.

Probably becuz its the most crytic... but it's very uplifting above all else.

It's like a peaceful, beautiful, the perfect resolution 4 the album as a whole.

It sums up everything the song stands for in the sweetest possible way and I love the way he delivers the lines. If the chorus doesn't send me off in tears the past 2 times, it's almost guaranteed to do so after I hear this verse and the last airing of the chorus... It just resonates so beautifully...

Sure, PR is classic and it never gets old 4 me no matter how many times I hear it. But "Gold" means something to me. It's already helped me a lot and sometimes Prince himself lends a helping hand thru the song.
It's a very feel good song. It's good for my heart & soul and when it comes to mind, it puts me at ease. My mind, heart & soul unite over this song and that's what makes it special to me above all every other reason I could come up with.

But we're getting off topic. Here's one of my fav. lyrics from Musicology (album)

"so many speak of the moon as if it had no flaws"... in the case of that lyrics, I feel like I speak of Prince as if he has no flaws. I don't compare him 2 the moon, thu. But it's the truth. I truly think that he could do no wrong, that's why I hate to say that I don't like one of his songs since he put a lot of time into it to make it perfect [in his eyes].
