My fav is MSG, 1997 I think... his performance of If I Was Your Girlfriend. It wasn't the full song, only a couple of minutes, but it was the highlight of the show.

I was at Lincoln Center during ONA in 2002. Out of all the performances I've seen so far, that's the one for me. The soundcheck was cool, the vibe was relaxed all evening, the music was tight- I had a great time! Plus I wasn't really feeling "The Rainbow Children" until I experienced it live. I went home and listened to it in a different way. Now it's my favorite Prince album, too.
Then we hit the aftershow at "The World" in Times Square and I got to hang out with George Clinton... headbang
That whole experience was positive for me. cool

Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

I agree.
Just the audacity of putting on an arena show for an unreleased album and
pretty much only playing new music that the vast majority of the audience
hadn't heard before.

It did backfire a bit as there were a lot of casual fans who walked out cuz
he didn't play anything they recognised, but for the rest of us it was a real
treat. Great time! and Endorphinmachine was just a killer opening song!

The Vegas aftershow on 2/9. cool
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
