My family just can't stand Prince.They call him the vertically challenged purple midget.Any ideas to get them to warm up to his royal badness?

Most people I know have judged without hearing any of his songs. Then they shut up when they see him on guitar.

One of my best friends told me the other day "I don't really like any of Prince's new stuff", she is so Ignorant anyway, she does not really LISTEN to the music, she only hears it.

Man...I was so mad that she said that, like she just criticized my kid or something. I had to think of an excuse to get off the phone.

Am I nuts?

I made them watch the superbowl halftime show and they thought he was cool but they still hate him and his music.Of course I blast my prince music all the time.The fact that they hate it is added incentive!I just wish they could warm up to him.I mean look at him HOW on earth can anyone hate someone so cute and talented?

Now you know what Prince's Private Joy song is all about. Masturbation? Possibly. A secret lover? Possibly. But for me, that song is always about my love of Prince's music and others' lack of appreciation for it. It is, and always will be a private joy for all those who appreciate his work.

The best thing to do is to not force it upon them. The moment you do that, they'll automatically dislike it because they know who it is. Just keep playing it for your own enjoyment and you'll be surprised, one day you'll be listening to something and they'll be like "who's that?".

It's strange, though. I really think of Prince as good looking, but the word cute is just wrong. Sorry. I would say that he's a very handsome man, though. He's beyond talented, if anything, he's a musical genius and a brilliant poet. He offers something special that nobody else has and for those who can't see that, I'd have to say, it's their loss that they'll never know the kind of brilliance, beauty and dedication Prince puts into his art.

But anybody who just says straight out, "I don't like Prince"... well, I find it hard to trust them completely, you know? It's like I was at uni with a guy who once came out with the comment, "Hendrix was shit". I never said another word to him for the following two years - just from that one comment, I knew there was absolutely nothing this chap had to say that could possibly interest me.
