Both are great. I love the solo in the '95 one. He hits a particular note during his guitar solo and it makes my soul collapse. Awesome

Are there three versions, then? As far as I know, the '92 one starts with the piano/vocal together straight away, is pretty short, and it's clearly Michael Bland drumming; the '94 version begins with the piano/fingercymbals intro. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong! the original is from the around the world in a day era-ish. i think its been said the basic track of it was used on the 94/95 version. but since i dont know all that techincal info ill let someone else give you the lowdown. all i know i want to hear that version!

Very interesting! Thanks for this. I prefer the '92 version - much simpler; more bleak. And the way the melody keeps resolving gives a sense of going round in circles - the '94 version does that downward "roo-hoo-hooom" that just seems a bit tacked on to me.

Beat me to it. He had me in tears! I couldn't believe I was seeing him play that. I'd love to have that one, but for now I like the 94 version. Love that guitar. " a newborn child knows nothing of destruction, nothing of love & hate"

Rumor has it is that the 1994 video version is ether the original 1985 version or the largely based around the 1985 version.

I love the video version over the 1992 version. I surely think it may be the original version or is based around it.

It´s not a rumor, Micheal Bland basically confirmed it not too long ago on this very site when he said that they pretty much shot the video using the old version...correct me if I just misunderstood him, his answer should still be around here somewhere on one of his threads...he said they used the old version for the video, i.e the 1985 version. So, there are three versions in circulation? I have three versions
'92 version which is more 'orchestrated', i think that's the word? '94 version 'roo-hoo-hooom' version! and c-note version, which i suppose is classed as a reworking of '92? which was a rework of '85? does that make sense? am I wrong? love the c-note version, the guitar work makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!

'92 version does have a lot of electronic strings in there, yes, and no guitar. 1.59 long. '94 version - piano & fingercymbal intro; roo-hoo-hoom 3.18 long. So what the hell is this C-note version?! (Does this count as "discussing bootlegs"? )

Ta! ....C-Note because that download album/EP was called C-Note since fans felt that Prince still owed them an album for their money´s worth, hence the name C-Note ( the first letters of that material , you know, C= Copenhagen, that jazzy instrumental, N=Nagoya, another jazzy instrumental, O= Osaka, T= Tokyo, both instrumentals with just a few "Tokyo" whipers in between, and E= Empty Room, a live or rehearsal version from the ONA tour). OK ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
