"The Continental" rocks big time!

I listened to it like a zillion times today on repeat!

Alright cut. Dissolve 2 a purple floor
U and me a starring in a movie called "Amour"
3 quarters in a glass, I see u smile and ask
If I flip 'em on my stomach will u marry my ass?
I'd be like "Yeah man"

Shame it was never released as a single, as was originally intended.

I thought that the lyric I'd be like "Yeah man" was Yeah Mayte!

Of course I don't know the time frames of when he was married or when these songs came out.

I love the entire Symbol album--even the songs I don't like so much work well in the context of this sprawling, messing, over-the-top, rock opera.

Love this song too. Funny story, but I always fly Continental Airlines when I go anywhere. I recently flew to Raleigh, North Carolina for my oldest brother's birthday celebration (of course, on Continental Airlines). I find that I'm singing the song "The Continental" on the way to the airport. The song also starts playing in my head as I'm in the airplane taking off. I think Continental Airlines should play "The Continental" on the intercom speakers on the plane before taking off, that would be awesome. But I can hear people now saying, "What is this song, turn it off, I hate it!" falloff falloff
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yes!

I remember thinking, that's one awesome ass then. I mean, a smiling ass? It was one of those lyrics from Prince I totally loved.

Now that I know it says "Smile and ask" it's kind of boring. confused

ok, so you guys thought it meant the same thing i did?

becuase "smiling ass" could mean, like "look at you grinning. get your smiling ass over here!"

no. i thought it meant her actual ass crack shape was smiley, like if she laid on her side her butt would look like the cheshire cat.

i'm really disappointed this has been debunked. my ass is frowning now.

Another thing too that makes me chuckle and think of a Prince song: When the flight attendant says the seats can be used as a flotation device. I think of the song "International Lover" where Prince says that, and I can never keep a straight face, I always giggle. lol
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
