Annie Christian...Ani-Christ...? I've loved this song since I was old enough to remember. The killer guitar solo, that plays throughout the entire song is a treat, the heavy bass kick (especially) in the beginning, forces me to turn the volume up ...My fiance asked me what the song meant...I sat there "It's about the devil" "She killed John Lennon, she killed black children..." "the way Annie tells the story she's his only son..." "until you're crucified..." Quite a mysterious song when you 'really' listen to it. I guess all these years I've been unconsciously avoiding the meaning of the song...IF that's the 'real' meaning. That's why I posted this...to pick the brains of my extremely informed, Prince Scholars (fellow orgers) Prove me right or wrong...I'm just curious Blue A coat of Blue Cashmere [This message was edited Wed Sep 11 11:07:47 PDT 2002 by TheBluePrince] Blue

One of my favorite songs of his early material. Wack-ass arangement, but it works.
The lyrics to me are kind of self explanatory...I thought. Anyone catch the reference to Georgia's "Green River Killer". I think that he was probably reading the paper when he wrote it, on the can or at breakfast, if he's anything like me. controversy was the first album (period) i ever bought, and it was for this song.
i always took it that way. "anti-christ." remember back when all those black children were being killed in atlanta? it was right around the time he must have written this song. in '81, i think.

You are right! I believe that John Lennon was killed around that time too. Basically this song is his social commentary on gun control and a whole buncha other stuff. I don't think it really has to do with the Anti Christ, per se, but it has to do with what was going on in that time and its link to the book of Revelation. Of course, now things are much worse than they were then... Tina (~!~)

I got all of that, but what I've ALWAYS wondered is what does
"I'll live my life in taxi cabs" mean? Or, from a different song on the same album: "89 flowers on their back" What, Hawaiin shirts?

“Anni Christian, anti_Christ, until you’re crucified, I’ll live my life in taxi cabs”
Ive wondered about this line too. I have settled on the explanation I came up with years ago. Perhaps he means that whilst all this craziness is going on (ie until we get gun-control) he will continue to run from place to place. maybe its an analogy about moving around, running, from one stop to the next stop. Constantly taking a taxi to somewhere safer until it all catches up there too.

DeNiro played a guy who obsesses over Jodi Foster-just like Hinckley did (the dude with the bad aim, who shot Reagan.) You sure about this? http://www.cet.com/~snevets/ Thanks. I was thinking of Wayne Williams that Prince was refering to. It was the Chattahoochie River near Atlanta where children that he killed were found. I was having a brain fart. Yeah. But I have not had the opportunity to use one. They used to advertise them in the back of Penthouse in the late 70's. Pretty strange contraption. They probably go by a different name now. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

WHOA yer kidding, right? No. The Accu-Jack is no longer a manual, hand operated device. They seem to have gone electric... Adult Minded Only: http://www.libchrist.com/...venus.html Incidently, the Accujac name is now being used by a company that makes a device that extracts bull semen.
