How did Santana or Jimi Hendrix influence Prince? Was it the kind of music?
The impro on the guitar? The discretion of his private life? Breaking his guitar on stage? Post your opinion/ [Edited 2/28/07 18:39pm]

Look at the clothes of hendrix and purple rain era. check out the faces. the tone of the guitar, etc. but those cats cant play everything else and dance or sing like prince. he does it all! ______________________________________________

Santana's tone is often evident in Princes work. Also, his solo phrasing is very much apparent. I think Hendrix was more of a visual and attitude influence in regard to performing. Perhaps also, his use of effects pedal to colour his sound. However, their is also the funk element to Princes playing which i dont think came primarily from these cats. see jimmy nolen etc..
