What songs do you think Prince regretted giving away? I bet "Nothing Compares 2 U" is the biggest, although maybe Sinead O Conner had to record this to make it a hit. But he still could have done it first rather than The Family. I think "Mutiny" is another one he wishes he kept and possibly "Cool" recorded by The Time of course.
It's funny how he almost gave "Kiss" away to Mazarati...that would have been a bad move. I know he probably doesn't really regret anything really, but hoepfully you understand my question..

Born 2 B.R.E.E.D. - Monie Love
no, probably a tie between 3 Shots - Poet 99 and All of the minutes from all his CD's that I was on - Tony M. Think of all the Grammy's Prince coulda had! [Edited 2/26/07 19:58pm]

Well he did say that he should've kept some of the Time's songs for himself. I think he could've had hits with "Get It Up", "Girl" "The Stick" "777-9311" "Gigolos Get Lonely Too" and "Ice Cream Castles" Just to name a few.

There is absolutely no reason why he would regret giving "Nothing Compares 2 U" away. The Family version was a flop, and the song would have been long forgotten without the Sinead cover. She turned it into a HUGE hit (one of the biggest of the 90s), and in the process making Prince a shit load of money and giving his songwriting prowess extra exposure. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Most of the "Come 2 My House" album. Vastly superior to the material on "Newpower Soul".

I agree. I was going to say 777-9311 but I can't really picture him & his band doing that one. Maybe I Don't Wanna Leave You ... that was my song back in the day.

To be honest, i dont think Prince regretted giving away 'Nothing compares to you' BEFORE Sinead 'o Connor scored a hit with it. I mean, he never played it live before that. I always considered it a bit opportunistic the way he tried to built on the succes Sinead had with her cover.

What's that song Dale did? Is it called Simon? "Prince don't hear Ravel when he wanna make love to his woman. He hears drums and shit." Miles Davis

I agree with this. But...if forced to pick something- I've briefly wondered if he hasn't wished A Love Bizarre was on one of his own albums. ATWIAD might have sold more. But the flip side is- I'm sure he really wanted Sheila's album to sell as well. I also agree with those who said he probably wouldn't play Nothing Compares 2 U if it hadn't become a hit. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...
