It's a mix of many reasons....I can't put my finger on it exactly.....way too complex to put into just a few words! I love his music, I love how he performs, I love how he shares his stage with all of those incredible musicians, and I love how he looks. I love how you can just plainly see how much he really and truly loves the music more then anything else..

I must say he feels like part of me, that I both love and hate.
I feel like I should keep an eye on what he's up 2.

the twists and turns and the occasional gem of a song or performance....

I could fill a couple of volumes answering this question but I'll spare you.

The short answer? His mind, and the way he expresses himself.

this forum first of all...and how great and unique his music is. Ya can't get that anywhere else

same reason everyone else does... you never know what he'll do next. genious.

He cast a huge purple spell on me around 20 years ago and hasn't reversed that spell ever since...

Wendyrachel has it spot on. I'm waiting to see if the spell will ever be reversed or if we have to put up with the pain and pleasure forever.

I listen to a lot of other stuff, go to other concerts, but I'm always drawn back. I went thru a "jaded" period where I felt like I was almost "done", but he went on tour, and fageddaboudit! I was hooked again!
Even during the jaded period, I would defend him to anyone! I can't take most of the so-called artists out there 2day, and I hate when people try to make me see why they compare- no matter how many instruments they play, how they dance, or what "style" they supposedly have. They're still not Prince/.

His musis and but especially his character...I mean he is so ME!!!He is like a soulmate 2 me...

The whole package. The music, the concerts, the forums, even the controversy he causes around here. There's never a real dull moment with the dude and it makes being a fan fun. If only half the singers out there today were even half as exciting as Prince.

Mainly the music. His music is my life's soundtrack. How could I not feel attached to it's creator?

I am still hoping for him to reach the heights again he reached with albums like Parade and Sign of the Times, but i also know that maybe is too much to ask.

But potentially he has the qualities to at least release records on par with The Gold Experience or, in other words, a creative rennaissance like other
40 - 50+ artists as Lou Reed and Van Morrison have went trough.

Honestly, two things:


1) Morbid curiosity - I want to know with each album release if he's going to release that "perfect album", or something so fucked up, I wont' beleive it at first.

2) Completist impulse - I own all his official albums. So I feel compelled to keep collecting. It's like collecting Hummel plates or something. Only his CDs are can be flung across the room in discust with the same impact.

His music. Everything sounds different, yet you know it's his. The way he looks. My girlfriend and I watched Purple Rain last night, (20th Anni. Edition) and I still get chills. His eyes are heaven.

His spirituality. He is so deep you could never get to the bottom. His sexuality. He changed my thoughts and way of life.

Ok, I've gushed enough.....
