Did anybody catch the Rolling Stones concert of 1969 now playing on PBS?
I would love to hear princes version of sympathy for the devil! It would be classic and now that I've seen this concert i can see alot of Mick in Prince vocal style and stage antics. Prince emulates without copying that makes everything he does seem original. We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not. | |

Are you referring to Rock & Roll Circus?? assuming you are, (I know that has been recently airing on PBS), here's some info on that performance. It was supposed to be a TV special. Mick killed it for 2 main reasons: 1. Everyone was totally wasted. 2. He considered, rightly so, that their own performance was horrible. It finally surfaced in the early 90's I believe, since by then it was pure pop culture- esp. with all the guests, Lennon, The Who, etc...as well as being Brian Jones last performance with the Stones. I shudder to think of anyone comparing Prince to that particular performance of Mick's. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

Yes I am referring to Rock & Roll Circus Forget about the perfect clean image of Glam, Thats was Raw! A Raw naked celebration of Music in it's simplest state. Forget about the flaws! Thats what made it art! That era was the last time Music had a heart beat!Since when has any era managed to balance social commentary and getting wasted so interestingly. Sympathy for the Devil is a good example. I wish Prince wrote such a dangerously important song? Controversy, Sign of the times & Anne Christian are Good tries but are lacking in some way. Ok I'll give him party up! I can hear that back then.
