But it's the honest truth. Then I said its hard to explain... but then again, so is Prince.

And my apparent "infatuation" with him is becoming more apparent. I refuse to say that I'm "in love" with the guy, cuz that's just putting it on too thick. (Jesse McCartney got me such a weird look when I said I loved him when I was 14 and he was 13... that's another story altogether).

I will say that that he is contagious and I highly respect and admire him.

I heard "When Doves Cry" when I was in 7th grade, and I was like, I need to hear more of this guy. So then I wacthed Purple Rain/got the CD and it was all good from there.

I'm 16 years old.

I was having lunch with my roommate from freshman year (last year) and a friend of hers and we were talking for an hour. We were talking about Justin Timberlake for some weird reason or other. I was then thinking of bringing up Prince, how Justin accepted his Golden Globe for him on his knees to make fun of his "small stature" as I read in an article... I wanted to go there, but it sounded phony.
I kept trying to find a reason to bring him up, but just couldn't. Finally, after I relaxed and the conversation became neutral again, I brought up the fact that on the way to nwing, I was singing "When Doves Cry" and it got stuck in my head... omg, we went on for about 10 minutes about Prince and how awesome he is and just about everything we could think of. I had my doubts that she'd like him as much as I did, but Susan & I have a lot of common tastes. That's why I love her so much, in a friendly way of course.

Here's a poetry fragment I wrote that stands well enough on its own. Let me know what you think:

His charm intoxicating
As an incense stick
His aura fills the air
Resulting in fog thick
With an essence so indescribable
That it knows no name

I'm 17 but found the hits B-side CD 1 and 2 at my cottage in the summer when i was 13 and have been hooked ever since!!! I love it all old school and new stuff. Prince is IT!

Im 17 goin on 18 in about a week! Im just glad im not the youngest!

Nobody really takes him seriously, but that's okay. I like him because we're close in age so I can relate more to his material (which, by the way, he has co-written with other songwriters from his label). So that puts him above a lot of other singers these days in my book.

But even with all the evidence I could come up with, Jesse's still no Prince and I'm okay with that.

Prince beats out every singer I've gotten into because Prince is THE BEST at everything he does.

not gunna brag n boast like the others
but i'll be 21 this april, so i guess i still count as under 21.
