I'm 15 right now and I adore the man. He's all over my room, it's pretty much amazing. I think it's great that I can come in here and like, everyone loves Prince, because after the Super Bowl I of course went to school wearing all the Prince items I had, and everyone was like, "he sucks", and of course I just cussed them out, it's all good.

I'm 15. I used to listen to him w/my Aunt Donna when I was a little girl (she was obsessed w/him.) And the superbowl performance reminded me how much I loved him. It's a bit disappointing that I'll have to wait so long to get into 3121, though.

You younger fans have good taste and ahead of your peers who doesn't know good music when it hit them. So keep spreading the word about Prince and be true to yourselves and don't hide your taste of Prince.

I drive my boyfriend crazy because I talk so much about Prince and his music. And he felt curious and asked 1 of his classmates if he knew who Prince is. His classmate answered: "What class is he in?" LOL!

I'm 18, and a pretty recent fan. Took me a while to actually warm up to him, but when I did, I realized he was an artistic genius, and quite an interesting guy. A lot of fun, too.

my mommy was a HUGE prince fan back in the day. whenever we were in the car we either listened to prince, en vogue, or the brand new heavies. i've loved prince since before i could talk.

the first song i ever memorized was 'thunder'.

the first CD i ever bought--myself--was crystal ball.

i want to make it in the music industry...not for the money or fame...just so i'd have a better chance to meet and/or jam with 'the artist' himself.

if prince ever plays in chicago again...i'm going to sneak on his bus and tour with him.

also, i've never kept my obsession a secret. everyone knows i love prince and nobody has ever made fun of me for it. i actually broke up with a girl because she said 'he's weird' or 'he sucks' or something like that.

i guess that's pretty out there, but...i'm sure you guys understand where i was coming from..

A lot of people are talking about being made fun of by their friends for liking Prince. That's not the situation for me. A lot of my friends like him (just not as much as I do.) and if someone ever says anything negative about him it usually ends up at me cussing at them or hitting them. Hahaha.

But I did take another good step. I'm a writer, so my roommate makes a comment that I'm writing my story again and I said how this one was new (3 weeks old in fact) and it was my 7th work up to date. I said that after seeing Prince on Sunday 2/4, I got really into him and he inspired in me in a such way that I started to write a story with a character based on him. Then I admitted that when I base my characters off of people I know (or this can't, don't), they start to turn into their own person.

I've also started to try writing poetry on Prince, but he's so complicated that I can only get fragments at a time. I'm trying to master lines with the same depth as his lyrics and I don't want to use rhymes cuz they rhyme, but cuz it has a good flow to it. Prince has a way of making me feel artistic, even more so than usual, but in his case, the stuff I want to do and/or end up doing is DEEP... just like him.

I was shocked at the super bowl seeing all the girls there singing alone to a song that is over 20 years old.

When I was there age in 1984, I could careless of a song in 1964. Well enough to be totally into it.

I gotta say that Prince has some of the deepest stuff I've ever heard in my life and after seeing him perform or in an interview or whatever, I'm mystified by him and I want to reach the upmost limits, or lowest limits of deepness.

I'm currently working on some poetry inspired by the man himself, hoping that it'll try to match the depth of his lyrics, but when I put all of my fragments together into something that works, I'll post it here and on the poetry thread, if it's still around when I finish.
