As of 12:30am (today), Gold.
I got the most interesting vibe from that song when I heard it for the... not sure how many times, still less than 10. Prince says that everybody wants to sell/tell what's already been sold/told... I feel like he was talking about his music there. It's like, everybody wants him to play like he used to and the hits that he used to... but he's saying that there's more to him than the past. He wanted to reinvent himself because he's done his older material so many times and he wants everyone to know that there's more to him and there's a lot more he has to offer. Then "all that glitters ain't gold"... means that even with the gems he's written in the past, they might not compare to what he still has to say. The overall message I get from the song is that Prince wants everyone to know that he has plenty more to dish out, but also to listen to his music from the heart as well as through obvious means. But the vibe I get from the song is that he's coming back around, getting more in touch with himself (i.e. his soul). Prince and  come together as one person= Prince reincarnated. He still plays guitar like he used to, but with a greater understanding and more heart.had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone | |
