One site I found had an 18 minute set of that one song with Prince topless and for some reason, it was just overkill for me. Call me an oddball, but I'm not so much into "topless" Prince... that's why "When Doves Cry" turned me off initially, but I got over that and just enjoyed the craftsmenship put into the video (they don't make them like that anymore).

It's weird, sometimes I can play that song in my head (minus Baby I'm A Star) for several minutes and I find myself recycling instrumental solos, changing keys, all that fun stuff and I figured out how Prince always finds a way to extend his greater hits in concert.

It's weird, though, cuz I haven't seen him perform that song in a video (the video being the movie, of course), I play the song in my head and I think of it as a good song by average Prince :gasp: he's anything but average, but before I saw him do it in the movie, it was just a good song to me by an average singer. I didn't have a clue back then when I first heard it that I'd be hooked so fast when I saw him singing it in the movie.

Omg... I hope that I don't feel short changed when I start buying CD's cuz I'm not watching him perform, I'm just listening to his voice... there's quite a bit of difference and there's not as much excitement on disc. I would Die 4 U, I have yet to connect that song with the extraordinary person that is Prince since I came to see him that way.

You can all bet that I'll rent/buy Purple Rain over spring break just so I can finally watch the whole movie.

I've heard "Little Red Corvette" more than any other Prince song. I'm surprised I still love it so much.

Then again, I think I'm just as addicted to the video I keep watching of him dancing to the song. The guy can really move (but at the time, he was only 25).

I listened to all of the instruments he used and made it sound as beautiful as his lyrics. I love the 2nd verse, the way he slowly builds up to the chorus, using strings or flutes to show a little bit of innocence. Then before singing

"it was saturday night, I guess that makes it all right", he had the keyboard echo the flutes/strings he used before. And his voice, when he sings "need to find a love that's gonna last" before the instrumental solo, it reaches a beautiful note.

I could go on and on, but this song is definitely one of the best in my book because it shows Prince at his best in every possible way except that it doesn't have a lengthy guitar solo, but "Purple Rain" covers that base.
