First of all, I didn't make up shit. I saw the flyer with my own eyes. If Prince had anything to do with it or not, it still happened and he had to have known about it because not much gets by Prince these days.

Now, if you have been to Vegas, can you honestly say that paying to see him and seeing others get in for free would not have pissed you off? When you have bought everything and supported the guy and defended his actions to the point of getting called a 'fam' and crazy and all types of shit?

And by the way, this is a free country and a free forum and I'll say whatever the hell I like. Go jump on some of these motherfuckers who do nothing else but dog Prince on this site.

Yeah, it's a free country and a free forum and I've said what I've got to say on the subject. If you can't wrap your brain around the concept that Prince may not have even had anything to do with those people getting in free, then that truly is your personal problem and you're welcome to it! rolleyes

Back in that day...There would have been no SuperBowl Performance....
But a commercial- At least it's orginal(I think), I don't think any other artist has gone to that extreme for their Half-Time Performance....

The only reason P did a thank you ad is because of all the
talk over his guitar looking like a Penis...
It is all public relations. I mean, Iam not saying it was a
bad thing to do. But if there was not all that talk about
the alleged controversey over the guitar shadow..there would
have been no thank you commercial. Think about it.
He is worrying about his image because he actually cares about his image
these days...he does not want to be offensive...which is a far cry
from the old and younger Prince who did not give a damn.

I love a good theory but come on now! If it was a gesture done for the sake of the so called controversy, I don't think they would have INCLUDED in the commercial the same offending clip that caused it in the first place! cool

They did not show the same offensive clip.

Well...I don't know how big a deal it really is but I thought it was a nice gesture. Kinda took me back to last week standing in the rain. As much as I despise getting wet, it was an incredible night. shrug

Of course I could push it and ask him to do a big ol' party at Paisley Park this year! biggrin
No. I am really serious. I have no idea why this is a big deal. Can you explain it to me?

While we were standing in line in Vegas, this lady walks up with a voucher that entitled her to two free tickets for the night if the concert was not sold out by 9 p.m. The fact that I shelled out 1500 bucks to be there to be witness to that kinda pissed me off. Along with other stuff about that night that pissed me off but shrug it's Prince. I guess I should be used to however he wants to treat people by now.

Well, it really is a very nicely done commercial, lol I think people are pleasantly surprised to see Prince make that sort of gesture, that's all.

A voucher for 2 free tickets??? Not one, but two? Since you'd just spent fifteen hundred smackers I could see where that might deflate you a bit. But honestly, If I remember correctly Kidwell posted something about that in the concert forum as a benefit for local residents but I thought it was limited to Wednesday shows.

We paid full price for HardRock tickets and couldn't even get a seat in the first 14 rows because of NFL, CBS and casino high rollers so at least you were able to get close at the Rio.

What else happened that night to get you po'd???

Oh yes they did. Look again. In the article that was posted even CBS and the NFL defended Prince. There won't be any apologies coming this time.

BTW, I'm curious...did you personally find it offensive?

Whaddup girl? Looks like every Prince peep except me was on the stage crew...I was in the dance cast! Everything about the whole experience was unforgettable but I think the fact that he was so hyped about the whole thing make it even better. You should have seen his face when he was talking to the FAMU band members. He was even a good sport through all the little "oops" moments. lol

From what I understand, Prince rents the space that is currently known as 3121; before all of this it was just one of the 4 (?) clubs at the Rio Hotel/Casino.

this isn't **only** Prince's place....

I've also heard that any "free" tickets were earned -- by way of frequent guest status. When you're enrolled in hotel/casino clubs like "Total Rewards" & such, if you're a high enough roller or frequent enough quest, you can score 'free' tickets to shows b/c they (the casinos) appreciate your frequent visits (all the money you shell out when staying with them).
I don't know for 100% certain that this was the case this particular time, but it does happen quite regularly ~ Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

Only crappy thing now with many of these clubs.. if you don't go every 6 months to remain on their active list, you can lose what points/perks you've racked up. It's almost not worth joining if you're not a heavy gambler/frequent traveler. smile

I saw the commerical... and I coulda sworn it was Prince directly speaking to the public... it was all just archive footage of the SuperBowl with text written underneath...

but leave it to Prince to not speak in front of the camera for a commerical... that's why he said nothing in the SuperBowl commerical advertising for the HalfTime show.

But with him, his silence speaks as loud as words.

I doubt that was the reason. It apparently was a good decision to do a "Thank You" message to show appreciation for all the viewers that showed support, and those in attendance that stood in the rain during the halftime show.

In this world of hate and envy, there are vultures and snakes out there that love tearing people down and enjoy bringing negativity into whatever good people try to do, so all this phallic schmallic talk is just the vultures biting away with envy. I mean let's face it...one man's success always leads to another man's jealousy, so what else is new?

Kudos to Prince for showing appreciation to his fans.

I think he did this because he's in bed with CBS in some way. Maybe a TV special or concert is comming.

The only person that is in bed with Prince - is Prince. It was a commercial - simply to remind people of - HIM - his upcoming tour - his new product - BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME. He ain't stupid. But if y'all wanna believe that he was doing it to really Thank U - OK.
