If the commercial was supposedly done because of the guitar silhouette controversy, why would they include a clip of it in the commercial?

The only reason P did a thank you ad is because of all the talk over his guitar looking like a Penis... It is all public relations. I mean, Iam not saying it was a bad thing to do. But if there was not all that talk about the alleged controversey over the guitar shadow..there would have been no thank you commercial. Think about it. He is worrying about his image because he actually cares about his image these days...he does not want to be offensive...which is a far cry from the old and younger Prince who did not give a damn. I doubt that was the reason. It apparently was a good decision to do a "Thank You" message to show appreciation for all the viewers that showed support, and those in attendance that stood in the rain during the halftime show. In this world of hate and envy, there are vultures and snakes out there that love tearing people down and enjoy bringing negativity into whatever good people try to do, so all this phallic schmallic talk is just the vultures biting away with envy. I mean let's face it...one man's success always leads to another man's jealousy, so what else is new? Kudos to Prince for showing appreciation to his fans. [Edited 2/12/07 11:57am]

I love a good theory but come on now! If it was a gesture done for the sake of the so called controversy, I don't think they would have INCLUDED in the commercial the same offending clip that caused it in the first place!

I don't think it's because of the guitar "controversy".
It might be a sign of something coming up (concert, CD announcement). He thanked Wendy, Lisa, and Sheila E. after the Brit awards. This is the same thing. I think the days of Prince "not caring" about his image are over - and that's a good thing.

Can someone explain why this is a big deal? Is it because Prince finally said thank you to a big group of fans at once? If he wants to thank me, he wouldn't have made me pay, a fan of alomst 30 years, when others got in free at Vegas.

Stoppit! You know he's a sweetie pie. Who got in free??? Well...I don't know how big a deal it really is but I thought it was a nice gesture. Kinda took me back to last week standing in the rain. As much as I despise getting wet, it was an incredible night. Of course I could push it and ask him to do a big ol' party at Paisley Park this year! Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

While we were standing in line in Vegas, this lady walks up with a voucher that entitled her to two free tickets for the night if the concert was not sold out by 9 p.m. The fact that I shelled out 1500 bucks to be there to be witness to that kinda pissed me off. Along with other stuff about that night that pissed me off but it's Prince. I guess I should be used to however he wants to treat people by now.

Like a new album or something? I'm not saying it wasn't a great gesture, but Grammy commercials are very expensive. I just find it odd that there would be one just to say "thank you." so, eye guess that u have never seen the MTV Interview during the filming of Under the Cherry Moon. when we say thank U to another, who r we really thanking? ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

There are lots of ways to get Comp tickets for shows in Vegas, that have nothing at all to do with the act that is performing. That's just how it is in Vegas! Damn, Prince can't win for losing...y'all just look for shit to bitch about and when you can't find anything...you just make it up!
