It should be noted that the was also the from the CBS logo, so that says to me that this ad wasn't simply Prince saying, "ya know what, I think I'll run a 'thank you' ad..." This was part of the network's overall promotional package, Now, whether this ad was planned all along or if it is simply an 'image' ad meant to counter the fake controversy over the guitar/phallus, who knows...

i was suprised to see the commercial, i didn't realize what it was for a few seconds. Its all entirely possible that Prince stipulated a "thank you" commercial as part of his fee for appearing

The only reason P did a thank you ad is because of all the
talk over his guitar looking like a Penis...
It is all public relations. I mean, Iam not saying it was a
bad thing to do. But if there was not all that talk about
the alleged controversey over the guitar shadow..there would
have been no thank you commercial. Think about it.
He is worrying about his image because he actually cares about his image
these days...he does not want to be offensive...which is a far cry
from the old and younger Prince who did not give a damn.

I saw the commercial. LOVED it!! It was so unexpected! Very nice of him to do that.

True, it's not the full CBS logo, but it is the "eye" part of the logo (just doesn't have the outer circle surrounding it). It definitely isn't any sort of "Prince" eye, though.

Prince has been very open and engaging lately. If people could see how enthusiastic he was at the superbowl gig they wouldn't wonder why he's saying thanks. It´s a nice gesture that Prince is showing his humble and gratefull side once again...I was really impressed during the 2002 celebration at Paisley Park when he thanked us for sticking with him through the thick and the thin. He may be an asshole sometimes, but he´s also got a very kind heart at times.
