Somewhat true. It's not exactly Oscar material, but Prince fans will enjoy it. I honestly think his performance in UTCM is better than the one he gave in Purple Rain, even if Purple Rain is the better movie. Just be glad your not watching Graffiti Bridge!

I've never watched Graffiti Bridge either giggle
If u like Prince with long hair, this is definitely a must-c!

Make sure you watch the ending credits to see the video for Mountains (if the network hasn't shortened it).

They took out my 2 favorite parts...cabbage head and the bats mad

nod My friend and I were saying that too - we were like, "WTF, why did they cut that part of the movie out?"

Also, anybody who watched Purple Rain tonight on TV-One will note that they cut A LOT of stuff out of the movie. I was not pleased at all. mad

This movie's made of all the finest kinds of cheese. Camembert, Roquefort, Gouda. nod

I'm firmly under the belief that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously in the first place, and that the melodramatic ending was over-the-top on purpose. I hope, anyways. 'Cuz it's no Oscar contender. lol

Prince is cute, but God love 'im, this movie's silly.

UTCM was filmed in color and released in black and white. I completely understand why it was released this way but I would love to see it in color.

Please, they cut scenes out of all three movies! The movies are meant to be seen the way they were orginially made. The bats,Lake Minnetonka,Prince talking to Jill,Prince talking with the puppet and many more. Aghhhhh lol

I think Under The Cherry Moon is a great fun film. It's not a classic like Purple Rain, but a real nice lighthed hearted film, like a 1940's Cary Grant comedy film which is what I think Prince intended to make.

I actually liked Purple Rain better than Under The Cherry Moon...UTC just seem too far-fetched, too vaudeville like(sorry Prince I don't usually say anything negative remarks about him) but just seemed too unreal. I could deal with Graffiti Bridge, seemed it had a spiritual tone to it...just my 2 cents.

And I think I'd love it even if I weren't really a Prince fan.

But I can also see how I could be the only person on Earth to feel that way. lol

well, if your a diehard prince fan you might enjoy the film but if you enjoy films for the film itself then its a boring self-indulgent mess. i tried watching it as a kid and couldnt get through it and even bought it when it came out on dvd a few years back...and tried watching it...its just not funny...nor is the story interesting. its a mess of a film...

but like i said, if your a diehard prince fan who enjoys every lil thing he does then i'm sure you will find something to be amused by.

Hmm... is that so?

I heard that the soundtracks for the movies sold well, just the movies weren't very good. If the chance presents itself to me, maybe I will watch it. Sure, I'm a huge Prince fan and I'd probably watch anything just to see him speak/act... I don't know, it's a tough call.

I hope Blockbuster still carries "Purple Rain" back home... cuz I don't want to
a) go on with life knowing I never saw the world movie
b) be known as the newbie Prince fan that only saw the 2nd half of Purple Rain

lol. I know the Blockbuster where I used to live carried it, but I haven't looked for it up at the local one in the Poconos yet. Too bad Spring Break isn't for a few weeks.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
