Hilarious movie!Loved it!Prince is indeed sexy,not just in this movie,but at all timez! Hope u njoy it!

well, if your a diehard prince fan you might enjoy the film but if you enjoy films for the film itself then its a boring self-indulgent mess. i tried watching it as a kid and couldnt get through it and even bought it when it came out on dvd a few years back...and tried watching it...its just not funny...nor is the story interesting. its a mess of a film...

I became a Wendy and Lisa fan because of that video and this was around like '92 or '93.

Overall the movie is funny and it showcase Prince's humor side at its best. True the writing sucks but if you had a hard week or need a good laugh, then Under The Cherry Moon does the trick.

Also to you new Prince fans make sure you get Prince movies on DVD because of one word: Unedited. I didn't even enjoy watching Purple Rain on Tv One and they cutted out quite a bit scenes. Even Vh1 version showed more scenes though.

the movie is RIDICULOUS.
good and bad.
mostly cheesy.

Somewhat true. It's not exactly Oscar material, but Prince fans will enjoy it. I honestly think his performance in UTCM is better than the one he gave in Purple Rain, even if Purple Rain is the better movie. Just be glad your not watching Graffiti Bridge!

I'm actually starting to watch if again for the second time, and I will say this, It could have been a fun tongue in cheek film, if it didn't go so serious in the third act.

I mean have Tracy and Mary run off and get married or whatnot, but suddenly its kill of the main character and have Mary pining away for her lost love forever???

The third act just seems like its from a different film.

That being said The Homo erotic vibe between Tracy and Tricky is way more obvious than I remember.

While I appreciate the "artiness" and general kookiness/campiness of the film, I have to confess that I was absolutely bored by UTCM. Love the era, love Parade, love Prince's look, but the film was a tough one to sit through - Still, the Mountains vid at the end was fucking cool.

Edit: Can't forget about Steven Berkoff as the angry father - One of the greatest overactors of the '80s.

I just watched this movie tonight (in fact, TV-One is now showing it again). They had that "I Love Prince" Marathon on TV-One where they showed all three of Prince's movies, now I see that they are showing them again. Pure heaven for us die-hard Prince fans!
