I'm not defending charging people a fortune and then only playing for a little over an hour. Just pointing out that, on the whole, his large venue shows are 2+ hours. There are exceptions to this, but usually he plays for longer. Personally, I'd think he'd want to play longer in a more intimate setting, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, his club and smaller venue shows are typically fairly short. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. SOURCE? Yes, I heard the same thing from a friend who has ties to one of the band members. According to her, the Prince tour will indeed kick off in the April...

Soon as I saw that expensive stage at the Superbowl, I knew P would be getting future use out of it.

serpan99 said: something doesn't look right on the floor plan...at the superbowl, prince performed mostly around the circle part of the symbol, with a couple of excursions to the side, and down to the point, but for the most part, he stayed by the circle. On the above diagram, that would mean that a majority of concert goers would have to see Princes back. It's not correct i say

Although I was in the 2nd row for one of them, I had a much better time in the regular seats because I got to see what was going on in the rest of the concert as well... For instance, the 2nd row seat was in Philly- Patti LaBelle came up & was on the opposite side, so I heard her, but never saw her! My EX-fiance did, because he was tall enough to see over the stage, but at 5'3", I didn't see $#!& during that part. I'd prefer a straight stage, too! I had floor for 4 shows and 1 show I wanted lower level to see everything. Both were cool but I MUCH PREFER BEING UP CLOSE I prefer up close, too, but I was shocked at how much I had missed by being on one side of the stage. Are you kidding? At MSG during the Act I tour, one of my sister's friends couldn't afford expensive seats, so I grudgingly agreed to sit in cheap seats with them. I will NEVER sit in the back again! Given the choice, close ALWAYS wins! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

jpav said: The only thing that seems odd, is that the orientation of the stage seems revered on this image.
It would make more sense to have the band area (the circle), at the far end of the arena; with Prince walking out on the "arrow" area... You're right. Don't imagine for a second that I haven't been thinking about a tour with this stage setup since the first helicopter shots in Florida. A couple of thoughts about this: The seating chart reflects that no one actually sits directly behind the band circle on the floor (those sections aren't numbered), only towards the back on the right and left. That makes sense, and one assumes they test for sight line, and the farthest row back on the floor can at least see Prince at the mic playing in front of the band. I remember that when asked during the Musicology tour about what it's like to play in the round, Prince replied that having the energy coming from all around him was amazing, and that he couldn't imagine ever going back to a traditional stage setup. Having the symbol in the middle of the floor with it's various pathways would certainly allow Prince to capture that "in the round" feel again. Here's hoping!

good point... i wonder what those are then? Those are reserved for the vendor tables selling 50% discounted Musicology merchandise. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I thought the stage was cool, but I wouldnt mind a stage that was at the end of the arena with big video screens and stuff. Paul McCartney had an amazing video show. In the round theres only so much you can do with effects and such. ______________________________________________

Yeah, it's going to be interesting...But I don't think he's going to be retiring any of his hits...That was just a savvy promotions ploy that's become pretty standard in the music industry...What I want is a nice balance between the two...I still want to hear "Let's Go Crazy" along with a fan favorite like "The Ballad Of Dorthy Parker..."

He may or may not tour for a year or at all, but he sure won't "retire the hits"!! He's been playing them at all these awards shows 'n stuff since the 2004 tour, do you think he would/could do a major tour without them?! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Yeah, you can be sure that Graycap will be saying "see, I TOLD you he was gonna tour"! The fact that he also stated it would be in the summer of last year will be ignored, much like his promise of re-masters before the end of 2006. No way Prince will retire the hits. He also said that when he did the Act II tour in 1993. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. The HP Pavillion in San Jose, CA also has an option for a Prince seating chart, although it doesn't look like the one in Canada.
