Tom

5-10 years from now, will you still be holding your breath for the Vault tracks?

I've just been thinking about how long I've been anticipating the release of P's hidden gems, buying into the hype, promises that never materialized, etc.

Project yourself 5 years into the future, do you see yourself continuing to get involved with his half-baked business ventures and misleading promises of albums that never materialize? Or will you have long since ditched him by then?

I wonder how long Prince is gonna sit on these song. Most of these songs where recorded at Sunset Sound and his basement before he build Paisley Park. Why book studio time for songs that he knows he'll never release. What a waste of time and energy!

"Interesting" your point of view on what a creator must be like. So, when you buy the latest REM album you think that the 10, 12 songs included are all they've been working on for the last two years? ...

No! I just think it's a waste of time recording song and then not using them.Prince has thousands of songs lying around in the vault just waiting to see the light of day. And as far as REM they don't use every song they record on their album, they use them on b-side or other projects or put song on their next album.

Well, it's been like that ever since Prince put out his first album.

For every album he puts out, there's usually at least one aborted album project, and enough outtakes to fill 3 cds.

If you ain't used to it by now...you might as well quit.

People talk about the outtakes and special sessions so much here on the org, that it makes a person want to cry sad In answer to the question, yes, I will still be waiting. Release the VAULT CHILDREN, Prince!! For those of us who want to remain legal, this is our plea wink

I'm not holding my breath now.He could release them all and i would take my time(if i ever picked them up).I have not bought his last three albums and i'm kinda burnt out on the games he plays. He said if he got away from W.B all this music would come out. What has come out is dissapointing(imo)and i know there was much better stuff in the vault.I now listen to alot of other artist which has broken me from the PURPLE SPELL wink

Yeah, probably. I mean, if all he releases for the next couple of years is religious stuff, maybe not. But since he has already released a not-religious-fanatic followup to Rainbow Children, I have hope. ONA is one of my fav albums at this point, actually. So yeah, I'm hangin' in there, and probably will as long as he keeps releasing stuff, old or new.

In 10 years the master tapes will have deteriorated so much that Prince will never BE ABLE to release them. This has happened to many musicians when they are trying to just remaster RELEASED stuff.

They usually only get one shot at playing the tape before the metal particulates come off.

Better hope that he's taken the time to hard-disk these pre-digital nuggets.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
