I really like this disc now. Took awhile to grow on me, but now I really like to jam to this for a differenct vibe.

Zannalee, Last December, Dig You Better... These are some great jams. Listen to it again. Almost sounds fresh again!

I think Rolling Stone said it best the Album Sounded to Me like Prince Impersonating Himself.you ahve some Good Playing here&there&some witty Lyrics here&there but overall it sounds Rushed,a Album Prince could do in His sleep¬ the kind of Album that you wanna hear Live.but the Bottom Line for me not a Single Song worth adding to the Catelog.

Listen honestly Warners in my Opinion and I have been saying it for Years has Never Promoted Prince Enough or the Right Way! It seems like they had a Personal Gripe against Him. I always thought Prince should Have been Allowed to Put out As Many Albums and as much Music as he Wanted when he Wanted. And I think it was Wrong to get rid of Paisley Park Records and for Heaven's Sake Give him his Masters back! It's HIS MUSIC! ONLY HE SHOULD OWN IT! NO ONE ELSE! There is Only 1 Prince they should Have Conceeded in this Request. Not Right at All!

I think Chaos & Disorder is ok. Not great, but not too bad either. There are many other Prince albums I would rather listen to however, so often this one will be left in its case for quite a while.

Just my opinion, C&D is one of Prince's best albums, rushed or not. I don't like "I Rock", but then again, as someone said all albums have songs which just don't have the appeal.

I remember having this discussion back when Hammer's chat was out.

Nice to revisit an old favorite.

Peace

Any reason why you capitalise the first letter of certain words? Surely this aint a post of headers and names and nothing more?

Just wondering as it must be a bastard to keep hitting the shift key for now apparent reason...

As for C&D, excellent, raw, live feel. Dont see whats wrong with it. I bought it at the same time as Emancipation, spun Emancipation once, thought it was mediocre at best and then played C&D. Listened to that much much more... Personally I think its better than Gold even and second to the Symbol album, the best of the 90's... Actually, he hasnt done anything since that is better!

Weirdly enuff I didn't run out and buy this one.Not that I never experienced drugs before but,the cover was a bit intimidating to me and I just wasn't too sure about it's contents for that reason. It just seemed a bit disturbing for a Prince albulm.I guess I didn't know what to make of it since I was through with drugs and that is what was displicted thru the sleeve.
Then one day in a crappy mood I did buy it and it wasn't what I was thinking at all.It made me feel alot better.I knew then I would get thru the crap I was going thru and it felt great hearing from someone who thru his music always made me enjoy a musical healing smile
The albulm in it's own right is magnificient and I love it none the less.
Nothing helps like cranking it loud to blow off some steam!

As much as I like listening to Chaos and Disorder, it's apparent that Prince didn't want to release it publicly, same goes for the Black Album. 'Originally intended for private use only,' that's what Prince says in the liner notes. I guess we got to glimpse at tracks that would have remained in the imfamous Vault, flaws and all. Not bad, not bad at all. In fact, it makes for quite an engaging listen when you hear all the anger/despair locked within most of those tracks.

First of all, I loved Chaos. Sure it was a little rough around the edges, but I thought it was much more of a real effort than "Gold".

And Natasha, I just wanted to point out a few things.

First of all, the music business is just that, BUSINESS. And the reasons that Warner wouldn't let Prince put out as much music as he wanted was because of that, BUSINESS.

It cost Warner (hell, ANY record company) a lot of money to put out a record. Pressing costs, advertising, radio and TV spots, etc. When the company makes it's initial investment back on a record, then the artist gets paid. It's called "recoupment". For the first time, after the "Symbol" record, Warner wasn't getting their money back. They were LOSING money. Now Warner wasn't trying to "enslave" Prince, they simply wanted him to slow down his release schedule to at least 1 record a year (which he had been doing all along anyway.

And again, Prince signed the contracts and had big money lawyers watching his back. If he wanted his masters back, he could've gotten them back!!! Other Warner artists have gotten their masters back. But he made such a stupid spectacle of the whole thing, he backed them into a corner.

Mind you, Prince still owed Warner records when they let him out of his contract. They didn't have to do that. They could've left him on the shelf.

And here's a newsflash for you, Paisley Park NEVER made a profit! NEVER!!! And despite that, Warner gave him ANOTHER label that he never started AND a Vice President position!!!!!

Just wanted to clear that up for ya...
