I was waiting for one of the sections of the stage to fall, sorry it just seems those things are constructed to quickly, though i did picture him still playing the guitar flat on his back underneath the floor. WTF were they doing??
They were twirling around like my 6 year old. Honestly, she was mimicing their steps and I think she was better. DAYUM! they were in the way, I couldn't see P as much as I wanted to because of them. who choreograph them??? Rosie Perez and the FlyGirls did a better job. like i said on another thread, some people have no respect for the amount of work that goes into it, not to mention playing in the rain, water on your guitar strings, in heels, ... gimme a break! he rocked it... sheesh, we got purple rain IN THE RAIN in front of millions worldwide... what else do you want?! i don't know how numbed out some of you must be, but i certainly felt it! I've read a bunch of posts - and yours is the most right on so far! I could criticize and nit pick but overall I think our guy came through like we knew he would.

The last time he was faced with such a testosterone-soaked non-fan audience, they threw garbage, called him “faggot”, and booed him off stage.
Over 25 years later and he had them in the palm of his hand. It was the stuff of legend, rendered even more visually and aurally matchless in the pouring rain. Back in the late 90s Prince once said that a friend had told him that he wouldn’t be truly free again until his guitar took full flight. I was giddy as a little school girl watching Prince tonight.
The mixture of old classics and new, unfamiliar (to Prince fans) covers was perfect. The sound was surprisingly good for a Superbowl halftime show. He looked beautiful and sounded even better. His mic was loud and his voice was clear. Loved that. His outfit was cool with a nod to the Bears and maybe even the Miami dolphins. "Best of You" really got me worked up. I didn't mind the rain on the cameras at all. I just wish they wouldn't have cut away at such crucial moments like when he threw his guitar or the very close of the performance. They should've had a close-up on his face. But other than that, well done. It was simple, yet huge, universally appealing and undeniable. I don't know why so many folks hate the Twins too. Did Diamond and Pearl receive this much piss taking? I kept thinking how classic it was that his hair went from the "Gett Off" video to Under the Cherry Moon to the Controversy poster all in 10 minutes. Only Prince. His fluid performance and how unaffected he was by the rain was truly touching. Made him human. And that's important for Prince fans and non-fans alike to see. I love that he can do anything and do it better than anyone else. But I also love to see that Prince is indeed one of us too. Tonight he mingled well with humanity. Good job kitty. It couldn't have been any better.

Do you think that perhaps he sees himself as 'aging' and wants to inject 'youth' into his show? Time and time again, I read on here and housequake about how the twinz aren't needed. His star shines so bright, they seem like a distraction? Nothing against the twins, they seem like nice women. I sometimes wish he would see the more thoughtful constructive feedback that people who have stayed with his career over the years and been to his shows have to offer. Prince has a bad hip and doesn't dance like he used to. Energy is up with the Twinz doing their thing. They don't bother me one bit.

I'm from the UK and stayed up till 1:30 in the morning to watch his set and I was underwhelmed. It was a good, solid performance, and the pyrotechnics and stage lighting were awesome. It's just that his song choice was a bit predictable. It made sense to trudge out the Purple Rain hits at the Grammys with Beyonce and at the Hall of Fame, but that was nearly 2 years ago. He's got plenty more classic songs that have mass appeal which he could've played instead - e.g. Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Raspberet Beret etc.
That said, All Along The Watchtower/Best of U sounded good and probably would've been a big surprise to the neutrals. I guess I just expect too much...

As is the case with these horribly long stickies (I am not going to work my way through it all) I do not know if anyone already said this. These gigs are not aimed as us; they are aimed at the general public (the Neutrals I will now call them). We all know he's got OTHER hits than Purple Rain or Baby I'm A Star. But that is what Prince think the Neutrals want, I suppose. I rather have him pump out something more recent.

USA Today Sports page C1 has one image of Prince on the front page of sports; on page 10C -- sidebar on halftime show. USA Today calls Prince's halftime show "stellar."
And as I look at all of the "Associated Press" wire copy on Prince's halftime performance and Super Bowl recap stories ... the consensus says Prince wore a "hankerchief" around his head. Everyone in Princeland knows it's not a "hankerchief." It's a "doo rag!"

Oh Prince was just 2 fantastic tonight! I love the stage setup, his suit was just beautiful and he ALWAYS tears is up! I loved the entire performance but I was really worried that Prince,The Twins, or Shelby were going to slip and fall in all that rain. Everything was spectacular and he just killed me when he said take a picture of me in all this rain. That's right he deserved to have his picture taken in that rain and to still look, may I say perfect. The one and only Prince, you made my week! A new song and a great performance!

Lets exhale some of that purple smoke and face facts here--his biggest hit over and over again doesn't tire you out? I almost didnt watch cuz i knew what the setlist would consist of! He's got other stuff he could've played, lets at least accept that. Although I would have chosen a slightly different setlist, he had to roll out the big ones for this show. And how many times has he played Purple Rain on tv?

my pet peave of the org :::::
why do we need JUST ONE thread on the super bowl performance ... like so many other "discussions" on this board ... i really think it sucks that we now have 11 pages of lil comments on this performance when some people just wanna discuss ONE aspect or whatever ...
