I thought it was a fantastic show

He had to play stuff that the crowd in the stadium knew otherwise it wouldn't of worked so well.

Quit moaning you moaners out there just revel in the Purple warmth

biggrin Oh the "Guitar", every time he plucked the string it sounds like "Thunder". biggrin
God doesn't just tells me how much he "LOVE's" me, God shows me how much he "LOVE's" me. Both telling and showing "LOVE" means to "LOVE". They go hand in hand. You can't have one with out the other. Something is spoken, then followed by an action. That is

Great performance, rain and all. Not much else to say other than it made me want to see him again even more. Thanks Prince, you're beautiful.

why do we need JUST ONE thread on the super bowl performance ...

like so many other "discussions" on this board ... i really think it sucks that we now have 11 pages of lil comments on this performance when some people just wanna discuss ONE aspect or whatever ... sad confused mad neutral

speak!

i think it's silly that we can have a dozen threads on 'dreams about prince',
'sipping prince's booty juice' or 'prince mj and james brown on one stage!@'.

yet if you would like to start a thread on the guitars he played during the
superbowl performance, they go "eh already a sticky"

no no no!

wtf?

I agree. It's hard to navigate a huge thread like this, and there ARE different aspects of the show that would be cool to discuss separately.

yes you can. he wasn't hooked in anyway, he had a transmitter, right?

plus the rain wasn't thát hard. i mean, it's not like he was under a
wall of water pouring down. it was a mild rain at best. just enough
to add a certain elan to the show, a bit of extra mystique to those
fireworks and lights.

i don't think that a single thing about the performance was not live

i can't believe it's 20 years this year since that was released

i just can't grasp that at all. 20 years. it still feels like a
few days ago when i borrowed the cd from the library and took it
home with me to make a cassette copy (my mom owned the Revenge
album, which is how i knew the eurythmics at such a young age) smile

I loved it...he and the twinz looked amazing...he held it together in all the rain...the music was more of a mix than his typical greatest hits montage. I was pleased smile

i agree. i think the style of moderation in discussing big princey events like this always errs on the heavy-handed. i don't know if that's such a good thing. i understand locking up all the "OMFGLOL PIRNCE WAS ON THE SUPRABOLLS!" threads, but if there are topics that veer or digress or zoom in on one aspect of the performance, would it kill us to let 'em stay?

mad I was very upset that I missed it last night. But I did catch it on the internet this morning. It was a pretty good performance. Nice guitar playing, good review of songs as well. It was interesting to hear lil' man cover The Foo Fighters tune. I guess he was returning the favor after Dave and Co. covered "Darling Nikki".

Nothing too spectacular, but a good performance anyway. nod

woot! woot! clapping clapping..let me just say this show rocked!!! I saw it, I recorded it, I watched it again and again...who wouldn't? My only complaint is those twins running around continously..I considered this a distraction, for this particular show/performance. Now in concert I wouldn't find this much if any of a distraction. just my twocents. , on that part. Other than that I wouldn't have changed a single thing. Prince is still and will always be THE MAN!!

I loved it! The beginning was a little weak with Let's Go Crazy. The rest rocked!

He looked sooo sexy with his face and hair wet from the rain. I thought it was sweat at first was like, "Prince never sweats!"

His playing Purple Rain, in the rain no less, and the crowd singing along, was very powerful. A historic Prince moment.

I really liked the twins' outfits, especially their boots. Thought their dancing leaves a little to be desired, I don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon.

Shelby sounded good. I like her sound better than Tamar - it's much stronger.

Forgive me if this has already been brought up - were there some recorded Prince vocals during the We Will Rock You chant? Sounded like he was saying something in the pauses...

Kind of cool (although very strange) that after all this time, Prince and Queen have some connection (other than the royal name).

yup, his pre-recorded vox were very much computerised to the point
of almost sounding cyborg, lol. but still audible as being prince.

Tom Joyner show is giving big props to our man. They are funny too,
Tom just said Prince should get MVP--Most Valuable Performer lol

They are saying PRince played it out and they said the poor marching
band didn't get showed any love. The camera work was not showing them
any love. They didn't even get a shout out. I am just typing some of
the remarks that's being said now.

Some more remarks--Prince flawless skin
Prince has the best perm
Prince rocked it out
Peyton Manning should hand the keys to the car
to Prince.
They even played a remix of the performance with
some of the game highlights, so cool.
That's about it commercial now, they must be getting more thoughts
together. They have the Prince Buzz. lol

I think there was a game played yesterday, right?

i liked it but it was so damn short! i know that halftime normally only lasts 15 minutes but i could swear the stones got more time than that last year! i thought he did a great job those guitar solos w/ as little time as he had to work w/. and i liked how it was raining, kinda sorta reminiscent of that famous diana ross central park concert. anyway, i guess i was just a tad disappointed because of the length but i was glad he had his time in the spotlight to shine. biggrin

Over on www.nytimes.com they have a glowing review of the show, linked on the home page with the rest of the game coverage. Here's a taste:

"His performance last night at Super Bowl XLI will surely go down as one of the most thrilling halftime shows ever; certainly the most unpredictable, and perhaps the best. “Dearly beloved,” he whispered, intoning the famous first words of “Let’s Go Crazy.”"
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

i had predicted he would do lets go crazy as his first song just because it is such a strong, fast paced song.

i thought the marching band was okay. i really liked their part on purple rain. that sounded great!

It was good enough to make my friend ask if I wanted to watch it again, immdiately after it ended. The covers were the highlights for me, espcially the foo fighters song.
