It never fails. Everything that Prince does the fans, at least here on the org, are so quick to complain and negatively criticise him or his work. I don't expect anyone to think he is or everything he does is just perfect, but why should it come off so bitterly?

There is always going to be negative and positive things. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Because they are expecting something amazing or comparing his recent stuff with his best stuff. They are waiting for the next Purple Rain or Lovesexy, etc.

I would say out of all the 25 or more Prince albums I own, 90% of it I like so he produces so much great work that you end up comparing a song like 'Guitar' to everything else he has ever put out. And that is retarded in my opinion, but easy to do.

I'd get your terminology right - "fams" wouldn't blame Prince if he ran over their grandmother.
Fans on the other hand generally are not so blindly accepting of everything the man does and have no problems with voicing disapproval when it is warranted.

Because people think it is cool to "act hard" over the internet knowing damn well if Prince was face to face .. they wouldnt say shit. Im guessing they still think he's 26 or soemthing the man is nearly an old person!!!lol.

Alright, I can't speak for anyone else, but this is my take on it, I see it the other way around.. "Fams" are the ones that don't see him too much in a negative light;they show more sensitivity when criticizing him and don't expect a miracle when he introduces new music;they give his new music a chance to grow and will either take it or leave it;they are also willing to accept changes he's made in his life and accept him more for who he is.

"Fans", however, expect more from him and not immediately accepting of the new music so quickly, don't hesitate to give harsh criticism if they don't like the new songs he puts out, sort of "keepin' it real" if that's what you want to call it. They don't seem to easily accept new band members or new artists Prince performs with, and compare new songs to his past music and want to keep it on that level, but it's almost as though they want to keep Prince in a "time warp" and not let him move on or change his direction in music...and that's just my $7.77.

I don't think I'm negative about Prince at all. I try to be what I think is a good fam and just kind of go along with what Prince does. I don't try to argue or put him down or anything like that.
But yeah I mean there are some things I might disagree with him about but I try not to go as public with it because, let's be honest, if you look at Prince too hard he'll serve you with a subpoena so fast, it'll make your head spin.

How many times does this issue need to addressed and unsolvable?

"Fams" are never negative toward Prince. They are total ass kissers who believe the sun rises and shines on Prince's ass. They have no mind of their own and whatever Prince likes, they like. If Prince releases an album of 10 tracks of complete silence, they would rave about how genius the album is. They are the purple koolaid drinkers similar to the Jim Jones followers.

"Fans" have a mind of their own and have their own tastes, likes, and dislikes just like Prince does. If Prince makes something they don't like, they will not hesitate to let you know. If I was an entertainer and made an album that a lot of people thought was shitty and no one said anything negative about it and others praised it, I would make another album like it because I would think that everyone liked it. The way I see it, if you think an album is shitty, by all means, voice your opinion and hope we don't get another one like it.

Did we forget that Prince makes so much music, in so many styles? Not every song will be Purple Rain, or Lady Cab Driver, nor will it be Rope of Silicon. We haven't heard of many songs that he has given to other artist lately, like he used to. I think he's making songs and giving a few of them to us, just like they are. Instead of keeping them all in the vault.

I went to see this band, Mingo Fishtrap, the lead singer/guitar player starting play the guitar intro to "Alphabet Street". He then asked who knew whose song that was, the large crowd didn't respond. He asked again, and I told my girlfriend to say tell him. She told him and he told his sales people to give her a free dvd of theirs. Then he told the crowd they should know music royalty when they here it. They also played "Get On The Boat". Check'em out!

I'm glad I don't do what everyone else does and compare everything new to everything old... I love Purple Rain, and I also love 3121. As a matter of fact, I love 3121 a lot more than Purple Rain. But I also acknowledge Purple Rain as being great.

It's nice being able to actually ENJOY his work. New AND old.
