Letitgo maxi-single question I recently downloaded several versions of "Letitgo" that were officially released on vinyl -- and noticed almost immediately that Prince did some weird things with the speed of the music.
It made me wonder if the original versions were spun at 45 RPM's (as a maxi-single is normally recorded) does it 'cause' the versions to become closer musically to the original song. I haven't owned a record player in ages (and all my vinyl is long gone) so I was just wondering if any of you that have that particular maxi-single have crapped around with the speed and such. I know this is sort of eclectic, but I did used to do weird things like that with my Prince albums back in the day -- especially so many of the singles that came out with SOTT with the 'Camille' voice. Give me some feedback folks! La, la, la

That slowed down mix is actually the music for The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker mixed with some Thin Lizzy samples.
Those remixes were also officially released on a CD maxi single as well back in 94. I have it on both vinyl and CD and they sound the same. A special vinyl edition of the Come album came with an additional lp of remixes as well.

Someone once offered me all the Camille stuff slowed down but I never heard back from him. ALX420, you still out there? I once recorded Release it to tape and something screwed up cuz when I played it back it was probably 1/3rd the regular speed but IT WAS FUNKY AS HELL!! I would love to hear what the Camille shit would sound like if you played it at 33 or whatever is the slower speed on a record player. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

The slowed down Dorothy Parker is very spooky the way he's got it on the Sherm Stick edit. [This message was edited Wed Aug 28 21:09:43 PDT 2002 by SupaFunkyOrgangrinderSexy] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Love that Dorothy Parker mix. I tried slowing down "Love or Money" from the Mountains 12" and it sounds just like Sly Stone! Pretty cool! ______________________________________________

J-Swift tore it up on Sherm Stick edit. My cd player has pitch control so every now and then when I remember it's on there, I fuck with Bob George by speeding it up and slow down some Camille songs. "Climb in my fur."

Some of the Camille stuff sounds great slowed down by 10 percent. Housquake doesn't work, but If I was you girlfriend sounds fantastic at normal vocal speed. It becomes a proper ballad. Try it! .

IstenSzek said: I like that maxi single a lot. That one and the SPACE maxi single. They've both got some cool remixes.
The 'Dorothy Parker' Sherm Stick Letitgo Mix or the Universal Love Space Mix are both very very good. The Cavi' Street Edit Letitgo Mix with YSOT is one I like even better than the album version. The acoustic version of SPACE is also brilliant. The Universal Love mix of Space is absolutely fucking brilliant! Seduction City!!!

Ah yes the Space CD single I haven't listened to that in a long while. I think I wore it out when I first got it. Give me some of that Funky Stuff! Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I really love that guitar solo at the end ! thanx
