One more thing. . . I didn't know Billy Joel was so retarded and blunt. LOL!
He basically poo-poo'ed the anthem. The first reporter was from the UK and asked him if he had a message for his fans in the UK and Billy responds with: Long pause and heavy breathing. "I'm not really a message a guy. (WTF???) Let's put it this way, it's a tough song. It's not the greatest song ever written. What it represents is a terrific thing, but America the Beautiful is actually a better song. This isn't my message obviously. Because it was written in the early 19th century nobody remembers the lyrics because they really don't know what they mean. (Huh?) The melody is difficult everybody drops out in the high notes, so it's kind of a slog actually." What the hell??? He's not very diplomatic is he? Another reporter asks, What will it mean for you to sing such a powerful song. Billy: "Well, I did it at the Stanley Cup, I did it at the World Series, I did it at SB 23 so I'm kind of an old dinasaur at this. Reporter from Columbia, How do you feel to be the first reporter to sing the national anthem twice in the SB? Billy: "Well I don't know I haven't done it yet. I'm just doing the anthem I ain't doing the halftime show Prince is doing the WORK." Reporter: What are your impressions of Prince? Billy: "I think he's brilliant. He's one of the most talented people in the industry today." Billy's ass is officially crazy. There were other wacky comments by Billy so be sure to check him out before Prince cuz he ain't got no dayum sense and I love it. I get tired of everyone being so PC and he was like whatever. . . I don't give a damn! Hilarious. [Edited 2/1/07 15:09pm]

Since I don't have that new thing called TIVO This is what I use to record my shows and it still works great!!!! I just went home for lunch and was able to see the performance, Prince never fails and I thought the Twins were alright some people on here were saying they were not very good. And I thought I would finally get to see Shelby sing bu she didn't maybe when I go to Vegas. And I love the joke when he first came in saying he was going to take questions and then he just starts playing that was sooooo good [Edited 2/1/07 15:19pm] Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

Nice to hear Anotherlover get an outing. Prince seemed to be having fun, which is cool and hopefully will transfer to the performance at the Superbowl.

I really enjoyed the set. Good guitar work and surprisingly good energy for an early afternoon press conference. I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, however I really wish I knew what some people's expectations were coming into this. He's performing at a press conference for a bunch of slack jawed sports reporters who gripe and complain about everything. It's not like he's on an awards show or god forbid at an actual concert. The reaction from the crowd was better than I expected considering that this bunch only respects the usual suspects (insert over the hill 60s rock icons here or U2). Anyway, this is easily the best Superbowl Press Conference set I've seen...lol.

I thought it was an awesome performance. A bit rough and ready due to the nature of the occasion, room and set-up, but nethertheless fantastic. As a hardcore fan obviously I don't care if the non-fans couldn't recognise the songs or expected well-known hits, but surely even if people couldn't recognise the music they could recognise an amazing talent on guitar. The guts of Prince to just come out and do the unexpected like that... never ceases to amaze me.
God knows what he's going to play at the Superbowl, but I doubt more and more it will be the obvious hits... The Twinz seem to get a lot of hate on here, I really don't know why. I think they sing/dance perfectly fine and although I rarely take my eyes of what Prince is doing, they add some nice peripheral eye-candy. Does he really need them? No, but they add to the visuals of the whole performance nicely.

Entrance: The band comes in with P last and faces a bunch of uptight, sports journalists that prolly don't know shit about P 'cept PR. Why's he carrying the hat he didn't wear it? Appearance: Not too much makeup (prolly wouldn't go over well with this football crowd) Hair, nice not too poufy, curly, or lady-like. FINALLY the edges look STRAIGHT, he prolly just got a fresh perm. Thank you, cuz them edges be killing me!!!! But he looks beautiful. It was great to see him in this bright ass lighting cuz there was no hiding his REAL face, still keeping it together. Plus LOTS of VERY close up shots. End of AnotherLover: Yes, Rock Lobster turns into Dr. Feelgood, with a snippet of the tail end of Let's Go Crazy. That nucca is outta control!!!!! Remarks from commentators after performance: "The cat's been been relevant to music for the last 27-28 years." "That's a bad boy, man. I'd come to the superbowl just to see him." "Jamie Foxx is right, that guy is sexy. Naw, he's sexy. I would be a little uncomfortable in front of him myself." Entrance: I liked how the brotha just came in all cool and sh*t. Why the hat? He does that a lot. He will have a hat with him but won't put it on (Leno, Today, etc.) but did you see the hat? Not to pimpish...kind of reminded me of the big one from the GOLD era. Appearance:Good look...This is a "man's" weekend and we don't want to see the brotha with all that make-up on. He was cool today and the hair looked right...I still like Parade and Musicology was the best...being the curls back brotha. End of AnotherLover:I'm a long time fan (since I was 5 and I am 29) and I'm not familar with "Rock Lobster" where is this from and only heard Dr. Feel good a few times but Anotherloverholenyohead was very nice! Remarks from commentators after performance: Rod was funny...Jaimie also said don't look in the brotha's eyes... GOOD POST PEACE PRIME [Edited 2/1/07 17:24pm] Prime aka The Kid

That was very strange. Billy did NOT want 2 be there, I think that much is CLEAR. Billy may live in Miami now but Billy sure took his straight to the point NY attitude with him when he left NY ....Billy was just keepin' it real..... I like the nice things he said about Prince though. But it seems like everybody was being sarcastic with the media today, even some of the football players. [Edited 2/1/07 17:42pm]

Seeing Prince and some cherry Nyquil will SURELY cure my flu and fever!!! Precious, I really don't want to add to your pain and discomfort, but would you believe that I just saw the re-play of this morning's performance. It is a total of a seven minute set that Prince performed. [Edited 2/1/07 13:43pm] Well, my husband brought home Nyquil cherry flavor, Dayquil, Theraflu and tylenol!!!
