That's what I was thinking too, seriously. It does look that way, even at first glance. It's too bad that it is the ONLY professional photo that I've seen of the 2 of them. I wonder why they didn't take more? [Edited 1/31/07 10:46am] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

You wish! Prince was crazy about Tamar and still might be for all we know he doesn't associate himself with women he soesnt like he never has to!

I like this pic. They both look good in it.
& Tamar's eyes are not too big. They're far set. She's cute but it seems she's having a problem finding a look that works for her. It's probably because she knows she will be compared to Beyonce. Something about the way the new producer layered her voice makes it a little grating but other than this her voice is fine. She needs a good track and a hot video. I thought the Round and Round track might have been it. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

So, we've been lowered on this site to be judge and jury regarding the "suck" level of someone's looks, huh? Whatever the case, respectfully, I'd have to disagree... Take it from someone who has both a working penis and decent hearing. Tamar is a very beautiful woman, as well as a talented vocalist. Of course, this is just my opinion. But, I'd be willing to bet there's many other penises and ears who feel the same way... Just my 2 cents. Strike I agree. She sounds good, and looks good.

This picture was taken backstage after the Houston show last year which is why it doesn't look so polished and maybe they caught Prince off guard.
I personally loved Tamar on stage, her sweet personality, her powerful voice, her dancing, her thick figure (I'm a straight girl but I can always appreciate when a thick, dark-skinned sister gets a chance to shine since you don't see it too often especially in Prince's realm). IMHO, she was the most "complete" protege I saw Prince promote. I was reading her bio on myspace and she graduated from USC with a degree in Music and can sing in four languages. This is impressive to me since most current superstar performers can't even sing on key. Ergo, she's not just some formless piece of clay for Prince to mold. Which is maybe the REAL reason they're not working together anymore. Regardless, I always think of that moment during the Brit Awards performance when they were doing Purple Rain and Prince stopped singing to kiss her and when he hugged her on SNL after they finished singing Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed. It seemed so out of character for him because he always seems awkward when he hugs people on stage. Even when he hugged Sheila E during the NAACP performance he seemed uncomfortable but I didn't see that with Tamar at all. At any rate, I think she's a cute and very talented girl and I wish that those of you who are being mean spirited about her appearance could be subjected to the same level of scrutiny by the media and the press. How would YOU fare if someone scrutinized your face and body real closely????? Just a thought. . .

I don't think I ever really liked Tamar. Especially since it took me 3 months to pronounce her name correctly.
And doesn't this kind of look like the cover to a romance novel. Like Prince looks like he wants nothing to do with her and the sister is pleadin' to be taken back! I love a Man who:

I'm not here to diss Tamar in particular, but I've never understood why Prince needs/ wants some decent but less talented 'cliche' female soul r n' b singer next to him onstage and record. I liked Rosie Gaines overall (big voice and had some personality), but in general I prefer P 'solo', with no hangers on/ new 'stars' that, with the best will in the world, almost never seem to go much further in the business after Prince. Tamar has a pleasant, light voice, but what does she really bring? I suppose any young singer, if P came calling, wanting them to be his 'protege' ain't gonna say no, but they should look at the history there ...
Anyway, P don't need 'em. He only needs his bad self, which seems to be what he thinks from his body language on that photo.

Right after the SNL performance, there was a 300+ post thread questioning what was so special about Tamar. She was dogged to hell. Folks couldn't quite grasp why Prince had a thick, dark-skinned, non-exotic looking black woman shakin it up next to him on stage.

It would be a big improvement over the actual wax sculpture. Yikes. Is THAT supposed to be Prince?!? I've never seen a picture of the wax figure before and I must say it's very mediocre... pull your cell phone out and call your next of kin; we're about to get funky

For goodness sakes, if they can make spot-on sculptures of people who are new, trendy artists, they could have at least worked a little harder on someone like Prince!
