I was just gonna say that I woulda taken him down to my parents' basement, turned off the lights, and let him feel me up. And he woulda wrote a song about it later. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

He would have been my #1 crush in high school, for sure! Realistically, I would have just been his friend, and probably would have played music with him. However, my secret desire for him would have burned a hole in me. I wasn't confident enough in high school to think that any cute boys would want me. I would form close friendships with these hot talented boys, and watch them go out with prettier more popular girls. I would then pine for them in secret. My poor little heart! I showed these photos to my boyfriend last night, and agreed that I would have lusted after that adorable ass of his! Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Here is an article about the photos at Supertouch.
Recently uncovered and set to go on display at Chelsea’s BLACK & WHITE GALLERY on February 16 is a mini (no pun intended) treasure trove of disarmingly intimate photos of the little big man himself, PRINCE (then known as Prince Rogers Nelson). Taken by his close friend Robert Whitman in 1978 when the tiniest giant was only 20 years old, the candid black & white snaps were shot in his hometown of Minneapolis on the city streets and in his parent’s home where the aspiring star was still living in all his pre-Paisley Park glory (time to watch “Purple Rain” again people). Ingeniously titled “Prince: Pre-Fame” the show will remain on exhibit for a month, with extremely limited-edition copies of the prints up for grabs. No word yet as to whether the five-foot-funk-assassin will be making an appearance but we can only hope that if he does he’ll be inspired to reclaim the hairy splendor of his youth…
Seriously, though, all joking aside, dude is The Truth with a guitar in his hands, check out the clips at the bottom… http://supertouchblog.com/?p=2289 The captions under the photos are pretty funny. My favorite is the one of him sitting at the table with the guitar. "This IS my breakfast." [Edited 1/30/07 12:39pm] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Alltough i mostly love Prince for the music, i must say that these are very nice pics, in the sense that we see a young Prince who doesn't seem very concerned with 'striking a pose' or trying to come over as some enigma.
Most pics i know of him show him being in control of his image very much, while on these ones he sees more loose, relaxed, dare i say 'normal'. I think these pics were probably taken when he was in New York late 1977 / early 1978 trying to get a record deal, and demoing his first songs in New York, or just after that, when WB did sign him.
