How Many JW's attended the Celebration? (Q about "Family Name")

Hi everyone! I was just curious as to how many Orgers who happen to be a Jehovah's Witness attended the Celebration this past summer. Maybe you can inform me specifically on the year 1914, and its importance. I'm not sure but I think it relates to some Erkzel passage in the bible (I know I didn't spell that right). And YES, I do believe this is NOT a pointless post because it does relate to Prince's song "Family Name." And it's because of that song that I have become more curious about it. If anyone, JW or non-JW, can inform me on this, it would be appreciated, and I'm sure interesting for many others on here. Thanks!

Well since you asked...
The song goes:"Devil devil, what u know?
U been here since 1914 but now u got to go"

The year 1914 is based on Daniel's prophecy:
The prophecy states that seven times would pass by
after the destruction of Babylon before The Messiah
would stand up and begin to rule in the heavens.
When Jesus returned to heaven, it was said to him
"sit at my right hand...until I make your enemies
a stool for your feet". The enemies consisted of
Satan and his demons...who had had freedom to roam
heaven and earth until war broke out in heaven
(Rev 12:12) and Jesus stood up...casting Satan and
his demons out of heaven...Revelation goes on to
say, "Be glad you heavens...because the devil has
been cast out. Woe to the earth ...for the devil
has come down to you having a great anger knowing he
has a short period of time."

The seven times amounts to 2,520 years counting from
the date 607 BCE when Jerusalem was ravaged by
Babylon and leads to 1914.
Thus the devil...who is responsible for all the turmoil
on earth today...has "been here since 1914".

If you wish to calculate this by subtraction...recall
that there is no zero year...you have to go from 1 BCE
to 1 CE.

.
So...how's everybody doing? smile

I forgot to respond to the first part of your question.
By count, I do not know how many...but they are
not all members of Prince.Org so there is no way to
get an accurate count by posing this question here.

With me there were three. I met 9 others for
the first time. Then there were scores who were from
Minneapolis...and I had a guest from the Minneapolis
area. So just as a guesstimate I would say between
50 and 60, not counting the ones who were studying to
associate with the witnesses.

So in that interpretation...there is no actual "Hell...?" Meaning the devil set up shop here on Earth (no pun intended)

Lots of religious myth, leads one to believe that there is a Heaven and a hell. Heaven is far above, pass the sky and stars, and hell is down below, pass or within the Earth's hot, molten, volcanic crust...

Jus curious...

My sentiments exactly. Do we really need roll call? I'm sure
the moderators wouldn't mind making a list and checking it
twice. lol I know that's not what the author of this thread
probably had in mind, but it's kinda weird to ask where any
particular groups is at? Let's ask where all the latinos, pacific islanders, orientals, physically challenged, the ones
with green tattoos, the ones who breastfeed in public...you
get the picture. It's not really that important in the grand
scheme of things.

Just for my curiosity, can you please answer the following question:
Why is "seven times" totalling to 2,520 years? What exactly is this "time"? Where does it come from?

Thanks

Hell does indeed not exist. It was introduced by Catholic religion (and from Catholicism deducted religions) to fear possible sinners.

And according Jehovah Witness religion people don't go to Heaven or Hell: you die or stay alive (or get resurrected) to live in the Everlasting here on Earth - if I understood well...

Thank you for taking the time, Sensual. Right to the point and not confusing as I thought it would be. For the record I did know the lyrics! smile The reason I asked this question was because I had spent some time with a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Celebration. They had also mentioned that there were a group of people that were there to "support him" during the Celebration, which I thought was cool. I had a wonderful time talking to them about God and the bible. To tell you the truth, the time I spent with them had more of an impact on me than Prince playing for 14 hours that week. And Prince's half hour's worth of talking to the crowd is more fresh in my mind than any song that man performed. So, that's why I asked that question. And no, it's not like asking "who was a Catholic, Baptist, blah blah blah" like Housequake2k2 assumed. I had valid reasons for it and wanted to find some people on here that I might have questions about regarding their beliefs. At the same time, I felt it was a good opportunity for everyone on Prince.org (who didn't know what it meant) to understand the meaning behind 1914, the significance of that date, and why he mentions it in the song. It's something I didn't want to ignore, so I simply asked about it, Thanks again, Sensual!

In bible chronology,
according to many bible scholars, a prophetic year is
360 days.(Rev12:6,14)..12 lunar months of 30 days each.
A time in the bible is one year...so seven
times would be 7multiplied by 360= 2520 days. In bible
prophecy...it says a day for a year (Eze4:6,7)...so 2520 years.
It comes from Daniel 4:31,32

This time culminates in 1914...the year WW I erupted...
The world has been spiralling downward since then. From
there world history reads just like Matt 24 where Jesus
gave the cummulative sign of final days...which would
require a period of time for everything to take place.

This topic would need to be researched by the individual
who is interested...not just from the standpoint of
JWs...
The historian Josephus is a good authority.

Daniel's account had both a typical and a modern fulfillment
as many bible prophecies do. It would be
impossible to treat the suject fairly in a forum
like this one.

Thank you Blue Prince and
roverlo. The bible speaks of both heaven and hell. Heaven,
of course is where Jehovah and Jesus live. It is spoken of
as being above but I certainly don't know where
that is. The bible says that 144000 will be taken from
the earth to rule with Christ there. These would start
with those who walked with Christ when he was on earth...
like Peter, Mary Magdalene, Mark, Luke, etc.

Hell is basically the common grave of mankind.
That is why people are said to go there when they die.
Job prayed to God to "hide him in the grave" and
to remember him later when he would be called back to
life. When Jesus resurrected Lazurus (who had been dead
for four days), he did not call him back from heaven...
but from the tomb.

In Revelation, it says that death and hell (the grave)
will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, and it goes on to
explain...this is the second death...the Lake of Fire.
So Blue, in answer to your question, no everlasting
burning tortuous fire for anybody...although many will
disagree. God's oringinal purpose of perfect life right
here on earth is the bible's hope. Of course there are
requirements to be met for those still alive when
armageddon comes.

Please don't read me as selfrighteous or as one thinking
she has all the answers. I am neither.

If you reread my post I said that you probably didn't have
that motive. I'm glad you got an answer to your question from Sensual Melody. It's just that while someone does have
a valid question, the thread often takes a turn for the worse through other parties. That's why I put the lol by my roll
call remark. Sorry for making you think I was putting
alterior motives to your question.

Look for an Orgnote korovyov. You will find that JWs don't interpret hell and the lake of fire.
The bible clarifies itself.
I think it's great that you are interested in spiritual things at such a young age smile.
