Then the list went on from there, buying Controversy, and then For You. I haven't stopped buying or listening since then.

This must not be for the fans who were there when he made 'for you' cause that was my first one and he was 19 years old.

The very first thing I ever bought was the vinyl single to "When Doves Cry." That was followed by the album (once again, on vinyl) "Purple Rain." Next was "1999" followed by his first four.

1. The Hits Vol.1 ... because I liked the song "1999"
2. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic ... because I liked what I heard on The Hits, and this was the newest album at the time.
3. New Power Soul ... I found it in a bargain bin for like $5

... 7 years later and I pretty much own everything he's released (and then some )

1999 was the first, after which I promptly bought the first four.

Second was the 12' of America from the same 'wrecka Stow'

After that I became a fiend for the B sides and bootlegs. So I went in search of finding as much rare Prince stuff as I could find.
In Atlanta we have this weird record store called 'Wax N factz' They USED to have alot of bootlegs and live stuff (we are talking late 80 early 90's). I guess legal issues cut that out

I had a whole bunch of mix tapes of Prince songs I'd recorded off of the radio, so I didn't feel a huge need to run out and buy tons of his albums right away. I was also in middle school, so I was poor, and couldn't take myself to the record store! That certainly affected things.

Went in to get PR, got my own copy of 1999 (copy I had was my sister's ) then saw Controversy and got it as well.
