What keeps me following Prince?

I'd have to say the microchip that I had a physician implant into his neck at his last physical. tease

OK, seriously Prince is the only person that I have seen that can hold my interest for twenty-five years because he is constantly changing. His creativity, and music is like a drug, it just leaves you wanting more. The man is just funky!! thumbs up!

OMG...So much 2 say so little time. I was hooked when I was younger & heard Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad... I didn't even know who he was I just loved the song. The first album cover I saw of him was 1999 and I opened it up and went eek eek I've been hooked ever since. It's 90% the music. 9% the mystery of him and 1% his looks.

Considering that I just came a serious Prince fan 2 weeks ago, I really can't answer this question the way others have.

But ever since I saw the last 10-15 minutes of "Purple Rain" a couple of years ago, I was hooked. The effect he had on me remained. Since that day, whenever I hear that Prince is going to perform, I couldn't help being curious. So I watched him at Bryant Park for GMA's Summer Concert series and was hooked. Little by little, I took the opportunites to see him perform as they came to me.

The fact that he reaches me deeper than any other musician keeps me coming back. To see if he still makes me feel the same way when I hear him sing or see him smile while he sings. It wasn't so much his physical, tangible aspects... how he reaches me with the energy he brings to the show is what keeps me following Prince.

I'm not quite sure I know
HOW to answer this question
as I haven't heard many of his latest projects
so that doesn't really make me
much of a follower of Prince

I've always had sole interest in '78-'89
but I've been progressing as of 2006
right now I'm into Graffiti Bridge
Diamonds & Pearls & the prince album
(which, for the record, I bought all three of these on cassette
back when they were released... but did not appreciate them until now)

Prince took a turn that I was
not ready to take once he
formed the New Power Generation...

the thing I love most about his music
is that I don't grasp @ first listen
but over time, I grow to adore

so I guess that's what keeps me "following"
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

Despite some things I really dont like about him, he is still the best. There are other talented artists out there, but none as great and versatile as Prince. He has that guitar-hero thing I like a lot also.

I've already saved up to 13 pics of Prince that I either found on Google or posted here that I really like.

But once again, what has me following him is the intangibles. I really like Prince because when I think about/discuss him, he makes me reach for some deeper meaning or at least try to describe something deep. I look in his eyes and his music takes me into him... so he makes me want to describe far beyond the obvious.

Originally it was his unique style and music.
When Lovesexy came out, NOTHING on the radio sounded anything like it, and it blew my mind. (Unfortunately of course, no radio station existed that could play his music at the time.)

Now I guess that I am just hooked. It's like a nostalgic addiction.

They played a LOT of Prince in Boston from Controversy on. I guess they didn't give a damn. LOL

INCLUDING the Lovesexy stuff?
I remember here in New York, we had WPLJ that was all grunge, Z100 was pop(?), HOT97 that was all freestyle/house, and KISS/WBLS that were R&B and Rap.
When he released "I Wish U Heaven" - the ONLY play that I saw of it was on "Video Music Box" (an obscure UHF video music station).

Why do I follow Prince? He's amazing, perfect, a fantastic dancer, I love it when he does the splits, his hair turns me on now, he's all over my bedroom walls, he has the most spectacular butt, he's attitude is so care free, and I love how he walks around like he's better than everyone else, cause he is.

When he introduced Byonce at the Music Awards show, I fell in love with him all over again and I counted how many times the camera passed over him, 5 times, and he had a comercial thanking his fans for supporting him, how sweet.

What can I say, I love the man, and if he ever wanted a younger women, all he would have to do is ask. Or just look at me and I would melt. lol

I'll continue to stand by my position that I follow Prince because of the "intangibles".

His good looks (considering his age) and voice are merely a coincidence-- and an awesome bonus in addition to his genius, talent and his alluring stare.

His family is from Louisiana. I think there's a bit of voodoo in his music that keeps us hooked..My husband says it's because freaks of a feather funk together. I believe part of me is in awe the other part just wants to hear good music and Prince doesn't disappoint....All the while reaching my heart and soul like only a few other artists can...

Well, he is was and will always be my favorite artist of all time. Whatever he does in the future, even if it's horrible or not meeting his 80's standards, I'll still stick by him.
