CRYSTAL BALL/THE TRUTH REVIEW IN Q MAGAZINE 1997

Does anyone remember what month these cd's were reviewed in this great magazine? I have looked in the gallery and came up with nothing and the Q web site has not been helpful either biggrin

From PrinceInPrint:

The first link mentions a few songs that show up on Crystal Ball, the second link is reviews by other mags.

Q: What's the most moving piece of music you've heard recently?

(Long, sigh-strewn pause) "Sonny's bass solo last night."

lol

I think i have that issue in the house.
the reviewr loved Movie Star if i recall.
Will need to look it out.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

the q review was short and bland, as usual. ever since 'come'
they only write short notes about prince's new material.

the entire crystal ball package got only a corner of a page,
the truth got about half a line, if that.

Incorrect. "Emancipation" got a full page, and another page was taken up by his photo, Plus even his smallest releases like NPS got an accompanying photo. "Crystal Ball" also had a full page if my memory serves me right, however there was a huge photo of him (covering his face with his hands though) that took up most of the page.

Q is an awful magazine. They dress themselves up as a "serious" music mag but are just as tabloid as the rest.

NME is the worst of the lot though.

oops, indeed, i forgot about the emancipation review. they did pull out an
entire page for that. plus in 1998 they had that pretty cool piece and the
magazine even had him on the cover (although in the UK robbie williams was
on the cover iirc).

still, i guess i kinda have a grudge against q ever since they gave COME a
very bad review and called the gold experience "healthier", lol. i was like
wtf?

still, they're obviously very partial to radiohead which is the only time
i still buy the magazine.

It's bizarre to think that was already nine years ago.

He's still an ass. He just doesn't do un-scripted interviews anymore.
