I remember seeing this video for the first time when it debuted on MTV back in the early 90s. It totally tripped me out, and the guys who were watching it with me (none of them Prince fans) really loved the video too.


From the momment Diamond, and that other talentless fluzy, Pearl, appear at the door and the door opens to hearing Prince screaming, I knew that we were in for a treat.


The video oozes sexual energy, vibrancy, and creativity. Sure, the hip-hop influences are a bit odd and quirky, but Prince was able to mix all of that into a strange and delightful, if not perfect, little tune.

The part in the video where he strips Diamond's (or was it the other fluzy?) dress off to reveal her undergarments with her pretending to be shocked and trying to cover her bits and pieces, was nothing short of scandelous. The entire room erupted in 18-20 year old boys saying, "DAMN, did you just seeeee that????". It was definitely one of those video moments Prince pulls off so well. I mean, I could never imagine MJ or Madonna doing it so well. MJ would just come off as creepy, and madonna would just come off looking like she was trying to get attention.


For me, the Get Off video ranks up there with Kiss and Raspberry Berret as classic Prince videos.

That's a nod to the movie Barbarella, right? Barbarella uses a "tongue box" in the movie. Also, sound samples from the movie are used in "Live for Love" of Diamonds and Pearls.

And in the "Three Chains of Gold" VHS release, there's a scene where Prince is making out with one of his NPG hoodrats, in a theatre that is playing Barbarella.

My favoritest part, where they dub Rosie saying "Come on" over Prince. Why does that fascinate me?

I knew a woman who was in the video. She was hot! Yes I remember being so overwhelemed when I first saw this video. Not just the video but that song was so slammin'. It was that dirty, funky, sexy funk style that I go crazy for.

I really liked the song, but I never liked the video... 2 reasons...

1. I didn't like Prince's costume style in the video...
2. I thought it looked very rushed and not filmed very well (the shots)(the art direction)

I had imagined the video in myhead when the cassingle first dropped...

if only someone like David Fincher had filmed the video to "get off", even if it had been the same exact concept....

I remember seeing a programme where the director of "gett off" lost money or something, as Prince suddenly decided to not film at paisley park anymore, and move to LA to film the video. It was either that or they moved the location from LA- Paisley. Whatever, that may be the reason why it looked rushed?

I love this video...I especially like the face Prince makes when he goes "I heard the rip when u sat down."

"Gett Off" was a turning point in my life. I didn't know anyone could move me like that. I guess I had been kind of pacified as an MJ fan (why do so many of us progress from MJ to Prince?) and when I saw that pure, raw sexual video it made my brain sweat. I love everything about it. My fave clip is when Rosie says "Come on" over Prince's head and he makes a very vulgar licking gesture with his tongue and hand. I love it! When I first noticed it I was on the phone with a friend and I stayed quiet rewinding it and looking at it for about 10 minutes.

It made me graduate from Liking Prince to LOVING Prince. And over night his posters went up in my room!

No but seriously that video was sexy as hell. At that point it was like the sexiest choreography I think I'd ever seen. Well...actually Paula Abdul's "Cold hearted snake" had some super sexed up moves...but yeah I love it when Prince was lying on his back with Pearl standing over his hot face. Prince dancing with two woman is just too hot for words to me.

Rosie was awesome too! Not afraid to commit to a dirty song at all! She got right down 4 the nitty gritty and loved it...

Best Prince Jam of all time. Best Maxi single ever by prince.
